Everyone is talking about gas and the increases because of what happened in the Gulf.
Well in Canada we have our own gas crisis and its 100% artificial. Last year gas was floating around 70 cents Cnd a liter. (3.785 liters in a US Gallon). From then to a week ago it went to around 94 cents a liter with the cost of crude oil being the reason. Now from last week to this week we are paying $1.34 a liter. With curency conversion thats around $4.27 US a gallon. The part thats horrible is that canadian gas suplies arn't affected by what happened in the gulf and the reason the gas companies are giving for the increase is that if they continued to charge normaly for gas that US companies would buy there oil (short term) from Canada and create a shortage here.
So the result is we pay almost as much as they pay for gas in the worst hit States while our oil suplies are not affected directly by what happened in the gulf while gas companies make insane profits and say if we didnt create a artifial crisis we would have a real one to deal with.....ya right. I think Goverment should be doing things to prevent shortages and not corparations, thats why they invented terrifs and other systems to ballance supply and demand problems. My 2 cents.
