I popped the cover off a month ago because I could hear a constant bearing noise. The magnet had a bunch of debris stuck to it - A LOT! 
I changed the fluid to heavier grade and the GM additive to hold me over but it's definetely on it's last leg.
I got a quote from a reputable shop - $495 to put a bearing kit in. This is to bring them the whole car. Since they're going to be in there, should I buy anything such as better gears to have them put in while it's open?
What are your recommendations?
