  • How Reliable are Walbro Fuel Pumps?

Over the course of the last year or so, it seems to me that I am seeing more and more failures of Walbro fuel pumps being reported. This is based on the numerous posts I've read on the various bulletin boards I frequent:

    -F-Body.com
    -fbody.com
    -Project TransAM
    -CamaroZ28.com
    -TheFormulaSource

Obviously, if there are large numbers of Walbro pumps being installed, there will be some failures. Hopefully, with a survey, we can get some idea of the failure rate, and whether it is unreasonable.

I almost hesitate to do this. In the past I picked up a problem with the Aeroquip adjustable fuel pressure regulator. Aeroquip went to CZ28.com and condemned me for it, claiming I had no right to point out these problems because I was a "moderator". Not sure what the logic was, but they basically blamed me for the problem, although the first responded by offering a free replacement to anyone who wanted one, and eventually admitted they had materials of construction failures for a large number of units produced over a period of more than a year.

I've already had a run in in the past with one of the popular Walbro dealers, who tried to have me thrown off ProjectTransAM..... so here we go again.

PLEASE NOTE: This is a "personal" post, and does not reflect in any way the official or unofficial policies, or opinions of the forum. I am posting as an individual, not as a "moderator".
