To Everyone (especially Brent),
If you are having any trouble with your headlight doors (and I mean any trouble), you have to read Brent's web-site (here's the link: http://www.bfranker.badz28.com/headlightfix/index.htm )
I was amazed that the problems we were having with our 2000 Trans Am headlights were identified on his web-site along with the 'free' fix (which worked !!
).
Symptoms were: 1. ratcheting noise for 5+ seconds on passenger side headlight door motor upon closure. 2. headlight doors popped-up when only parking lights were turned on. 3. when alarm was set, headlight doors popped-up without the lights on, for no apparent reason.
All these problems were fixed (for free and as identifed in Brent's web-site) by just removing the motor/gear mechanism, rotating the motor shaft on the door armature 180 degrees, and tapping the motor 'tabs' back down to firmly hold the motor to the gear unit.
By the way, the driver side motor is loose too, so I will be removing it and tightening its tabs before it fails (and rotating the gear at the same time, just in case).
Brent, thank you, thank you, thank you...
