  • My car

As you know if you've been reading my posts I have been having trouble with my car jerking at slow speeds, Its a 2000 firebird. Well I thought it was the rear end. I'm no mechanic, far from it. I took my dad a ride today and when it did it he said the engine had a miss and might need new plugs and wires and that would cause it to suddenly jerk around. Well I have 2 take it to the dealer day after Christmas to get it checked again. I took it there last week they looked at it 15 mins and told me it was the tranny and sent me 30 miles up the road to another mechanic who told me after hooking his comp to it the tranny was fine. then I made the other appointment with the dealer. A person at work told me it sounded to him like the fuel pump was clogged so I got it changed and the car still does the same jerking. The whole 30 miles and back to the other mechanic on the interstate the car ran jus fine with no problems but when I get it below 50mph it has the jerks. Well anyways I turned the TRAC off on the way to work tonite and had no problem at all and I'm wondering if anyone has had problems with the TRAC Traction control system???

I haven't had any issues with the TRAC system on my wife's 2002 firebird. I'm not sure how bad the issue is that you’re experiencing, but my wife's has a very annoying shutter between 40-45 MPH while the converter goes into lockup. Try driving it in drive not over-drive and see if that makes a difference.

Have you done any mods to the transmission such as a stall converter or done any work to the driveline at all?

When my car had 59K miles on it, the dealership had to replace the valve body in the transmission because it wasn't shifting properly. This included the solenoids too. Maybe you should do the soleniods and a fluid/filter change...
