anyway to prolong the life of you transmission besides driving easy and filter change and fluid flush?

what would be a good sized torque converter for a slightly modified 94 formula with the 4l60e.im looking to pick up some time in the quarter mile, would this dramatically shorten my transmission life, and i do some highway driving
