FIRST OF ALL I WANT TO MAKE IT CLEAR THAT I WANT TO HOOK MY ERG AND OTHER EMISSIONS BACK UP!! I HAVE SEVERAL REASONS WHY!!
The original engine in my '82 trans am used an solenoid controller EGR, and the engine that has been swapped into my t/a is from an '86 caprice and uses a thermastatic vacuum switch. You may wonder why they chose this engine, but if you were to look at an '86 caprice engine diagram and that of, I believe a mid-eighties trans am, they are identical. In an emissions diagram I looked over in one of my repair manuals, unlike a solenoid controlled EGR, a TVS controlled EGR does not need to be managed by the ECM, this causes errors in my ECM. Can I take the ECM from an 86 caprice or the similar engine out of the mid-eighties trans am, and hook that up to the components in my car, or will this cause more problems? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
If it helps later on I might be able to post the diagram i mentioned.
