  • What car started your f bod bug???

17 yrs old, 8 yrs ago my parents got me a 92 vert. mustang......4cyl.
Generous thought, loved the car for the most part, had to pay for it of course.
The fact is was a 4 cyl......I think that was like throwing a tub of gasoline on an open flame though.

that was soph year in h.s. (started school late) of course it had a 2.5 in cowl hood, chrome pony wheels, saleen wing, and yes....even a flow master...1 single flow master dumped....silly huh?

99 roles around, in college now, sell my stang and 3 months prior said I would never own a camaro.....bought a 97 mystic teal a4 z28. This is when the gas ignites lol. TO start it was a factory freak running 13.71 out of the box.
years and tickets later it had progressed its way to one of the nastiest cars around.
then had to sell it to get out from under the loan. to this day I still see her around all the time
then had another butt stang 90 gt with some work into her. Then my pride and joy. 2001 ss camaro #966 with tons o work.

This bug is never gonna go away and I love it

      Two words...Grand National

Once I got my taste of power, I wanted more. New flavors and more of it. Well, once I drove Craig's TA back in 99, I knew I needed to own a new flavor. I think that pretty much explains it lol

Ever since I was young i would go to car sows with my dad and would always ask what each car was. I became crazy about 60's camaros. In middle school I dreamed of buying one and fixing it up so when I got my liscense I could drive it. Then when I was going to a show at my sisters highschool I saw a dark red 95 z28 pull out of the lot and whip it sideways. After that I went straight home and realized i had a passion for fourth gens. All through middle schol i worked and got raises each year. Finally i was able to get my own!

A buddy of mine got a '93 Camaro V6 as a graduation gift when we were in HS. I thought it was the most beautiful car I had ever seen, with the exception of the vettes, of course. :P I was a jelous guy, to say the least. Then another friend got a '95 black V6 Camaro and I was always riding with him in it. Then he sold that one and got a '96 RS Camaro with the body kit and all. Then THAT was the most beautiful car... Anyway...after that I knew I wanted one, but I couldn't afford one. Then I kind of stumbled into a chevy dealership while looking for a new-used car to replace my '83 RX-7 and, on a whim, ended up buying my present car. It is the first new car I have ever owned....my parents never even had new cars when I was growing up. But...now the f-bug is dug in deep and I think my next car will definitely have to be an SS. Oh, and this site has had a little to do with that.....

Liked the "pony car" concept, but didn't like Fords.... liked the Pontiac. So in early 1968 I bought a '68 Firebird 350 coupe. 2-bbl 350 engine, wide ratio 4-speed, 3.23 Saf-T-Track rear, HD suspension, HD brakes, a radio of some sort, tinted windows, PS, PB, Deluxe trim package (small S/S bead on the fender openings, and chrome inserts in the rear 1/4-panel fake "louvers"), and deluxe knitted vinyl interior. Midnight Blue meallic, with an all white interior. Actually, it was my (ex) wife's car (hence the lower HP V8), because I already had a '66 GTO 389 Tri-Power HT.

When I was little I was always building the little plastic models. I got to be pretty dang good at em for an 11 year old. I did some really cool detail to the engines and dash. I still have some of them. When the 4th Gens started to come out, my dad bought me one. The model that is. I put more time into it than any model I had ever done before. I changed the color to red, put in the red guages and stereo and dressed the engine up alot. What is weird is that my car now is much like I imagined it 12 years ago when I built that model. Now the only thing that would make me consider getting out of the F-Body would have to be the funds for a Z06!!!!!!!!!!
Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside thoroughly used up and totally worn out, loudly proclaiming......WOW WHAT A RIDE!!!

I remember watching Smokey and the Bandit when I was 5-6 and fell in love with the car...bada$$, if I remember correctly. Not too long afterwards, KnightRider got me hooked...

Mom ordered a 92 GTA instead of getting a Honda Prelude...and gave me the car when I was 18.

Like everyone else...it was history from there.

Been a car nut since building models when I was a kid. Spent all my allowance every week on model cars.

My older brothers worked on cars, so I got some shade tree knowledge.

Had to do a valve job and install a clutch on my first car before it was capable of being driven (I was 15).

My second car was a 57 Chevy (still have it). I was 16. Built an engine for it in my bedroom (we had no garage). Drove it during high school.

Lots of cars and 2 kids later...bought my son a 1996 V6 Camaro for high school graduation (the deal was he got a college scholarship, so I bought the car). I liked it so much I bought my 95 Z28 a year later.

Well, one fine day several years ago I wasn't much of a car guy. That all changed when my dad took me to the IHRA Nationals at Milan Dragway. God, those cars are fast...when the top fuel dragsters go down the strip it feels like the whole place is being carpet bombed. From that day on, I loved cars and everything about them. I watched the Speed channel regularly (and even with MTV being the god-awful steaming piece of crap it is, I watched Pimp My Ride whenever I saw it on the air), I always went to the Woodward Dream Cruise (I live about a half hour away from it), and my first job was even parking cars at concerts.

Then one day I was looking at internet porn when an idea popped into my head. My friend was utterly obsessed with Corvettes (like literally every other word that came out of his mouth was either "Corvette" or "horsepower"), and he was recently telling me about the legendary speed of those with Lingenfelter engines inside them. So I figured I'd check out their site and see what's up with them. So I went there, checked out their engine packages, and lo and behold, they didn't just make engines for Corvettes, but Cadillacs, Hummers, Impalas...and F-bodies.

I always had a soft spot for Firebirds, so I went around their site some more, hoping to God that they had some videos of them in action. And there it was-A video of a Camaro with a 427 Darton sleeved block, completely stock in every other way, doing 60 feet in 1 second. And popping a monster wheelie while it was at it. And sounding every bit as loud and monstrous as a top fuel dragster.

I said right then and there, "I'm buying an F-body. And I'm doing that to it."

So here I am-still without a Camaro or a Firebird, but at least now with a passion for them and a lifelong dream to get one. And put a Lingenfelter 427 block in it, of course. (I can guarantee you it'd be one of the fastest cars in Detroit, and at Woodward )

                              I guess I was a late bloomer, I was a Mustang man until 1993.

I never had the desire for unything up until that.
