  • nfb New v8 at school

At my school v8s in cars are hard to come by, right off the top of my head I cant think of another except my Z. Today my buddy scott drove up in a 2001-3 or whatever bmw 540i. That thing is pretty awesome. It has great interior and whatnot everything u'd expect from a bmw. I was wondering if anyone knew much about it. I assume is pretty fast cause its got a v8 and a 6 speed. I wonder how much power and what it would run in a 1/4.

Local kid in my town has a father that owns a big insurnace company.

Starting at 16 years old, this kid is now in his mid twenties. I've seen him with an Acura NSX-T, 2 Corvette z06's, a Supercharged Viper GTS and an H2. He's had other cars but I lose track.

              Will someone please adopt me?

Not trying to stereotype as many young drivers are safe and good, I believe that some "inexperienced" and/or immature drivers don't need huge amounts of power. Then again, there are some drivers in all age categories that shouldn't be driving at all

                I think the 540i is pretty equivalent to a bone stock LT1. 5.5 0-60 and 14.0 1/4 mile according to http://www.albeedigital.com/supercou...0-60times.html

That's what happens with stats from the magazines. I believe Motortrend back in '98 got the 13.4, and R&T (or C&D) got the 13.8. Different driver, different car (one may have had better tolerances than the other), different conditions, etc.

as for the question in the thread, I saw an episode of C&D TV back in 97 that had reviews of the 97 WS6 and the BMW 540i on it. They came up with exactly the same quarter mile times for each car, and the 0-60 was within a tenth or two for each. The BMWs are awsome cars, I'd love to have a 540. They had a 282 hp V8 (at least in 97).
