  • hello i a newbie, i need some advice on a purchase of an f body

this post is actually for my brother, he had a 85 t/a with 305 and a automatic trans. thing was garbage when he got it. so i told him to go buy an actual fbody in decent condition and with fuel injection (no offense carb guys). he wants an ls1 but its way out of his price range, i would say it would be 7500 at most. what would be a good model and a good price for one with fuel injection, 5 speed trans, and around 100,000 miles?
*side note and i guess easy to modify

I would think you should be able to find either a Z28 or TransAm with an LT-1 and 6 speed with those miles. From 93-97 are the 4th generation of the f-body and they will all have an LT-1 350 with a 6 speed manual. Third generation cars from 82-92 with V8s would have 5 speeds and either 305 or 350 V8s.

on the third gen u wont be gettin a 350tpi 5spd car unless one of them was swapped. want something cheap? get a 88-92 tbi motor, really cheap and they come with a 5spd and get good gasmilage, with a l98 cam, open element and other stuff i got 230miles to the tank

3rd gen cars with a 350 did not come with manual trannies, autos only. However, like Joe said you should be able to find an LT1 (93-97 V8) with a 6 speed in that price range no problem. Just don't jump at the first one you see and be picky. Keep looking until you find one that's in great condition and low miles. Coming into winter there won't be as many on the market, but the ones that are on the market will be a little cheaper than if they were selling in the spring.
