"Rita is expected to continue on a westward course into the Gulf of Mexico, quite likely powering up into a very dangerous major hurricane (winds over 110 mph) by midweek. All residents along the western Gulf from extreme northern Mexico to Louisiana should pay close attention to the future of Rita."

I was talking to Jay about this, and he said that God was tired of seeing all the boobs at Mardi Gras!

I would have to say that it does appear lately that God is proactively seeking out and destroying those that he is apparently not happy with. The Indonesian Tsunami did most of it's damage in an area that was demographically known to be a cespool of HIV and AIDS. Lots of sexual immorality in that area of the world, and we both know that that is very high on God's list of no-no's.

On the other hand, it also appears that we are also experiencing a common trend in the Earth's ususal weather cycles. Supposedly approximately every 130 years, the oceans and climate "prime" themselves for these hurricanes to spawn.

Something like that could always be construed as a sign from God, but what could he be trying to say? Maybe that the wickedness of New Orleans needs to be punished -- or destroyed?

            And it's a 15 to 20 year cycle. We're just a year and a half in...

Looks like it's passing just to the south of me. Not by much, either.
