  • health/nutrition guys... quick question

I'm just curious... I quit eating fast food a few weeks ago, totally. I had taco bell one time because I was starving at work and that's where one of the guys was going.

Since I quit eating it, I am always hungry. I mean always. I eat 3 meals a day, but I'm still starving. Like, I'll eat dinner at 7 or a little after, go to bed at 11 and I'll be starving when I go to bed, then I'll wake up extra early, like I did an hour ago today, with a hurting stomach. Like I got a tape worm or something.

I DO have a high metabolism, very high. I weigh 165, and I can eat whatever I want and stay at that weight. I just got sick of feeling crappy eating fast food and spending the $$$. But when I did eat it, it filled me up. What gives??

So it's a withdrawl Ken? That makes sense. I would eat fast food daily. At least once a day, maybe 2, and when I would work 13 hour shifts at my other job I ate it 4-5 times a day. I just got sick of it, it made me sick. I still haven't eaten it in forever, and I don't plan on it, but it's like taking a toll on me right now. I just have this emptiness in my stomach that won't go away.

Ate a bowl of cereal at like 10:30, then I just finished 2 breasts of chicken parmasean leftover from last night. 20 minutes later, the empty stomach is there. It's like no matter what I eat, my body is wanting something more. Fatty acids??? Sounds like withdrawal to me, makes sense. I've been looking up info on fatty acids and withdrawal and I can't find anything.

Aside from the constant hunger, I do feel a lot better. When I'd eat fast food I would sweat like crazy, I felt tired, I felt lazy, weak, etc... I feel so much better now that I quit eating it, but I just want to feel full again

I'd say if you are still hungry eat more, just keep it healthy food. have a salad or some celery. Something that will fill you up. I'm not a health person, just my 2 cents .

I'm not the world's biggest health nut, but like you, I also gave up on fast foods. I did it last year. I found the biggest withdrawl I had was from lack of carbs. I'm not on Atkins or anything like that, but there is a lot of carbohydrates in fast food. I found myself getting massive headaches from the lack of carbs.

As Ken said, your body will adjust. Took me about two weeks. I had McDonalds this past summer for the first time in almost a year (for any fast food), and it made me sick. My body actually wanted to reject it (we won't go into further detail there)

your body just has to adjust to what a full stomach actually is. It's used to getting a huge amount of food and calories and fat at each meal. Now when you eat a full meal, your body is used to so much more that it triggers that hunger. Like everyone else said, stick with it and your body will adjust. Soon you won't be able to stand fast food.

I've been off fast food for years now. Every so often i'll get a craving for it. Not more than once every 4 months though, usually less too.

My old boss was a former personal trainer. His advice to me was to eat 6- 7 small meals each day, and to drink a LOT of water. Don't neglect proteins and healthy fats. Also, if you have any more questions, check here-

I'm slightly skinny (but damn sexy) and have given up overly fatty foods (fast food, junk food, etc..). I stand 6'3 and weight 185 and have high metabolism rate. It took me a few weeks to get used to not eating these type of foods, but now that I'm there, I'll eat a chicken breast for dinner and be good. Your body needs to adjust.

I've been eating like this for a few years now, and I feel great.

Dude man I know exactly what u feel. Im 20 years old 6ft 1 and weight about 170 pounds. I can eat, eat, eat, and do more eating and not gain a single pound, i try not to exercise to much so I dont take off any more weight. Im too busy to really work out now, but I know what your talking about with the empty stomach feeling. Im eating a bowl of Progresso Chicken soup as im typing this and about an hour ago I ate almost half of a 16 inch pizza. This is rediculous how much I eat and dont gain a single pound. Even all the girls I know ask me how I stay as I like to call it "lean" with all the food, beer, and everything else that is put infront of me. IDK im just rambling.....

I am a type 2 Diabetic. This was probably brought on by being overweight most of my adult life. I now control my diabetes and my weight thru my daily diet which is a good balance of proteins and carbs as well as eating snacks three times a day.

I mention all this to you because I never thought I could permanently lose weight since diets never worked for me......but the snacking was the key. That way I am never hungry. Keep your snacks simple like maybe some cheese and crackers, an apple or peach, a cup of yogurt, etc......anything that's not high in fat. Try it....it may be exactly what you need to keep your stomach feeling full.

I'd say I hit the metabolism wall at the 30 barrier. I've eaten healthy for 2 years now and just in the past 2-3 months, I've gained 15 lbs (from 190-205)(could be attributed to GF stress - another story ) . No choice but to exercise now

I'm 6'3" and 205 lbs... my healthiest weight for me is 172-180lbs ... I better start making use of the free Gym up the street from me (Job has it's own gym _
