Well all I am getting a Mustang for a new car. The hawk is not as convenant for a family car. I know like a slowstang is. Anyway, I was considering a Charger until the price.
My deceased father worked for Ford (truck plant in Louisville). So, I got the discount for employee discount (3000 dollars off). Sorry all but the payment on my Hawk have drained me not to mention my fiance loss of job.
She is looking but my income alone cannot afford the payment of the Hawk and apartment and support the kids and child support for my daughter.
This sacrifice has to be made.

I'm confused as to how selling the hawk and buying a new mustang lowers your car payment?

It is obvious he wants the new mustang but just doesn't want to say on here that he is selling his hawk for one. He has made this post before and nobody could make sense of it, not even him.

A five year old Honda Civic would have been a better choice.

heck, my 96 Accord was great for 35K miles of daily driving chores. That worked out to be a little over a year's worth of driving, still having my f-bodies for playtoys.

I picked up my driver for $3200 + shipping on Ebay. it's a 96 Cutlass with 46K on the clock. KBB was $5500 at the time of purchase.

If the goal of your exercise is to reduce debt, you should sell the hawk and buy a used car with whatever cash is leftover from the sale. aviod the car payment all together.

But to complain about debt, and then claim the solution is the purchace of a brand new car is really far out there. You do realize you are going to take a giant hit in depreciation the moment you drive it off the dealers lot. I just don't get it.

It is evident he wants a new car and is trying to justify his position. Tracy, you hit the nail on the head......... it's been a wonderful life not having a car payment. Your paycheck goes so much further without that monthly payment as well as the elevated insurance required for the new car. That feeling of not having a car payment ultimately kept me from purchasing that new GTO. I just can't bring myself to jump back into the payment routine.

Adam........ I was there several years ago, been there, done that, got the t-shirt, returned it for a refund. If finances are an issue, the last thing you need to do is buy a new car. You are going deeper into debt. Purchasing a new car to lower your payment is one of the biggest mistakes you can make. Sell your car, buy some cheap daily driver and take some time to recover and get out of debt, not put yourself further in the hole under the guise of a lower payment. Someone is feeling you a line of crapola and you are buying into it. Since you are in the mood to swallow pride, buy a cheap POS and give yourself time to financially grow. You will be amazed at what no car payment for a year can do.

                      To all

                      Well,
I read all of your post. To me it does make since. Not to fight. I know you all mean well. I appricate it very much. My old Trans-Am is here in this town and to tell you the truth If I COULD see it again.
I would ask the owner to sell it to me. That is the only way I would get an older car. I know the history of that car (at least when I had it). I honestly tired to GET A GTO. But no matter how hard I resurched and even told the dealers. They still tried to rip me off.
My best firend is a dealer in INDY. But a Mitubisi dealer (pardon spell). He told me the black book price on my Hawk. Then my eldest brother and fiance
seperately worked out what my payments would possibly be.
The Slowstang is Dealership price of $28,000 without tax and transport, and
etc. With my decised (pardon spell) fathers discount it is with all $25,000.
The Hawk is worth $22,000 as it sets. You see the picture so it is in excellent condition.

That is why. May not make since to you but in my twisted head it does to me.

                      Adam
