  • Whew! Made it though the worst of the storm

Lots of debris everywhere including a street sign that landed in my yard from a few blocks away. Didn't lose any trees or more importantly any parts of the roof. The upgraded roof was money well spent as we took 100 mph sustained winds. Now we still have 60 mph winds combined with a cold front pushing through with a 25 degree drop in temperature. Mother nature is an awesome power for sure. Yeah, I'm a bit crazy but I had to go out and test the winds..... I retrieved the street sign and almost got blown over by a strong gust. I didn't want it getting picked up and blown through a window or something. Anyway, no apparent damage to any of the cars or house so we dodged another bullet. When it all dies down later today it will be time for the cleanup. It's great to be alive and safe. Ya'll take care.

Glad to hear you are OK, Joe. That looked like one heck of a storm.

this thread is worthless without pics

been there and done that myself... sure is a wonder to experience the power of Ma Nature... but still stupid (to get in mother natures path) to do it

The way things are going dow their with ever more, but necessary, house codes, houses will be made of titanium reinforced with transparent aluminum windows (now a reality -thinks Star trek IV) .

              Well, if you insist.......

This one was taken approximately 8:00 am this morning. I was on my front porch looking out over the lawn, but at that time it was too violent to venture out any further. This was probably close to 90 mph sustained winds. The reason we have power this time is due to an upgraded grid and everything around here is underground.

actually scratch that...... I just did a complete walk around and found the alumin drain gutters on the north end of the house were torn off. Still only minor and the parts can likely be saved.

Great to hear you made it through relatively unscathed. If gutters are the only thing removed from your house, I'd chalk that up as a victory.
