well, here's what Police Fleet Manager Rag Mag says about the new offerings.........
"The Hemi Charger is the nations highest pefromance police package vehicle".
I don't know how they can make that statement with the numbers they came up with, other than this attribute: "Unlike the older police Camaro nad new retail Mustang, the straight line perfomance from the Charger R/T is fast but not scary fast, and not brutish. Any officer who can drive a Ford VCPI can drive a Charger R/T without any more chance of the car getting away from him."
They got 0-60 between 6.8 to 7.2 seconds and 0 - 100 mph between 16.1 and 16.6 seconds............ they said the best acceleration times came when the kept the ESP activated.....they said with it deactivated, the wheel spin killed the acceleration times...
here's the numbers they got from the other models:
2005 Impala: 0-60 8.0 sec. 0-100 20.7
2002 Camaro: 0-60 5.7 sec. 0-100 13.5 (quicker than the Hemi charger)
2005 CrownVic (CVPI) 0-60 8.4 sec 0-100 23.3 (slower than the v6 Imapla!)
2005 Mustang: 0-60 5.3 sec 0-100 13.5 (so..this 4.6 squares off with the 2002 LS1 F body?.......)
But..from a perf. standpoint....we have two cars faster than the Hemi...i think they like it because you can throw bad guys easily in the back seat, they like the trunk space, and the "dynamic handling" of it.....they said..
the special service Chargers will get the gear selector mounted on the colume instead of center console.....
