  • Fair Price for my car?

With winter approaching I'm seriously considering selling my car because I can't stand to see it be driven in the salt and winter conditions and I really don't want to end up in a telephone pole when I have to drive in the snow. The details are its a 94 firebird formula, m6, manual locks and windows, cd\mp3 player with stock speakers except for 6x9's added in the back no t-tops, cloth interior, I replaced the engine this summer with 111k on my car. I put in an engine with 45k miles on it, when I did this I put in a new oil pump, and did the clutch and all the components that go with it. All of the fluids were changed then too. The car itself is an 8 out of 10 on the outside and 7 out of 10 on the inside I'd say with meticulous detailing which I'll do before selling it you could bump both up a point. The car will be turning 114k on my drive home from school this evening and this weekend I will be changing oil with mobil one synthetic which I ran since getting this engine 3k ago plus I changed it after 500 miles of running it just to be safe. The oldest part on the ignition system is the opti which has about 3,500 miles on it so basically everything is new. I have documentation of every thing I did to the vehicle including pictures and reciepts. Brakes are good, tires have about 75% of life left on them. My mods are Pacesetter LT headers, CAI, 1LE elbow, and true duals. I know that LT's are techically not SMOG legal but I have high flow cats on the back of them and had the car inspected right after insalling the engine and don't think that many places will give you a problem about them. It also has AIR and EGR fully working. Do you think asking $4,500 or $4000 for the car is too much? I put well over $2500 into it this summer and most of the parts on the LT1 that do go wrong are almost brand new.

You will have a hard time getting $4,500 for it. The LS1 F-bodies are drastically coming down in price as well. So most people are going to spend a few extra bucks to spring for the inherantly better LS1.

I think you will be doing good to get $4,000.

I did not realize they had dropped that much kinda sucks knowing I payed 6k for it a few years ago and thought I was getting a heck of a deal. I'm looking at a wrangler right now for $2500 that needs a little work and will be in great shape so even if I would only get 3500 for it I guess I would come close to breaking even.

My rims and tires alone are worth $2,000.00 and with all the mods done to my car you can double that. And you think I would let a dealer buy my car for less than that? I don't think so... Trust me I thought about selling my car so many times too, but after I realized that I said the hell with it and I started modifing it (M6 convo, R/A, suspension, tires, etc..)

Keep it man! A '94 Formula is rare these days...especially an M6!

I really wish I could. I love this car and have it in perfect running order but PA winters aren't very fun with a rwd V8 not to mention I just can't stand the thought of salt on my car. Also I am very much into the outdoors, I hunt and fish and my car isn't really meant for that. Also I have a camp thats about a 25 mile drive back into the mountains I'm sick of borrowing my parents Grand Cherokee to get there. At this point in my life I can only afford one vehicle and a Wrangler will just suit me better.
