You guys here anything about these things? Are they any good or just another rip off?

E3 sparkplugs?

The E3 is a silly design. They sent a couple to work for me to evaluate, and we all just laughed at them. My buddy at Champion once told me, when I asked him about multiple ground electrode plugs, "we think they block the spark". Makes sense. Just look at a formula one plug - it's gapless - no ground electrode at all. Same with some airplane engine plugs. When he made that statement, we were specifically looking at a design identical to the Bosch +4 which was hanging on the wall in the R&D/Engineering department, and that design dated back to the 1930's. The E3 is only a single large ground electrode, but it is needlessly complicated. I like the NGK single ground electrode with a groove and a groove in the center electrode. What's important to make a spark want to jump is a sharp edge on the electrodes. That's one reason why a fine wire electrode works well. The voltage doesn't have to hunt around for a good jumping off point. It just has the one choice - the sharp edge on the end of the wire to a hopefully sharp edge on the ground electrode. The spark eventually erodes the sharp edges of the electrodes away and rounds them off and they don't work so well, however the double iridiums and double platinums hardly wear. They are hot, however, and not always suitable for all high performance applications. Anyway, Forget the E3.
