hahaha...could'nt resist.... last night we were watching tv and gave all the animals a bisquit... the golden retrievers gulped theirs down as usual, but Keona, who should have been finished by now kept smaking her mouth open and closed and making weird faces.... welp, the goldens have done this, so i figured she had a small piece of bisquit lodged in her teeth someplace...

the digital camera was sitting on the end table, so i told Mary, "get the camera, some of my wolfdog friends still can't believe she lets me do this".....

if you grasp the lower jaw of a member of the Canis family, it can not bite you..(some of you dog folks know this i'm sure)



i release her lower jaw, she laid still....had to use my smaller finger to dislodge the little piece of busquit shrapnel lodged in her gum behind this tooth...

she got up after this, shook off, and pawed me...LOL... they are smarter than we think...



anyway, happy Sunday, nice weather here in N.VA today..time to cruise in the gto alittle

Nice pictures, Keona is a beautiful animal! Speaking of dogs woofing down food, I got up this morning at 6 to go to work and my dog Chloe (yellow lab) followed me down and pointed me in the direction of her breakfast. So I prepare her food and then go to the bathroom. About a minute later I hear her coughing/choking and run into the kitchen and see her on the ground gasping for air. I was so scared and confused on what to do so I lifted her up and started squeezing and compressing her chest and massaging her throat quickly and yelling her name. It was def a scary moment and then she coughed it all up and started to wag her tail and lick me, haha. It was def a scary moment, but yea dogs get to excited sometimes and eat way to fast!

that could have been trajic... the hymlic (spelling) manuver works on dogs too though...

the big problem to watch for is "bloat"...its very dangerous, and deadly.. it's taken many a dog. as a precaution, for instance, we dont let our dogs excercise 1 hr before or 2 hrs after eating their meal... not can they have water for 30 min prior or 1 hr after. if a dog is a fast eater, its good to put a ceramic or hard mug, or some type of non toxic heavy weight in the center of the food bowl so that the dog has to eat around it...that makes them eat slower..then remove it at the end and let them eat whats under it or any thats left. fast eating can cause bloat too.
