I need some parts off the engine, so it had to come out. So I spent yesterday pulling the engine out of it in a one car garage with no heat, no room, and almost no light, with the car half backed out in the snow. My cherry picker was too short to reach over the front end which made the job a lot harder, and I had no help. Then when the engine was out, I drained the rest of the chocolate goo out of it, which used to be synthetic Mobile 1 before it got mixed with the antifreeze. The garage floor, the tools, and the metal parts of the car were all too cold to touch, so it was miserable working on it. Today I'm going to pull the pan and the pistons to see what was causing the blowby adn low compression in one of the cylinders (stuck or broken rings, etc.) Anyway heres a couple bad pics of the procedure...
Good luck with the project Kev. I know the chocalate goo all to well myself. Get yourself a forced air Kersosene heater. They have a couple at Wally World for less than $100 bones.

I only have one car. Even if I had a backup, I have no garage to store the Trans Am in. Last year I had to drive home in a blizzard. I made it home without incident. When it snows, I think of it as a test. Sure it's rough to drive in, but if you can do it in an RWD sports car with no traction control, you can do it in anything.
Red 95 Trans Am: M6, Moroso CAI, Magnaflow, Spohn sway bars, back to life as of 2/15/10!!!
      SOLD- Kinda miss it
94 Del Sol VTEC: 27 city/ 33 highway, knee deep in slowness
      SOLD- Good riddance!
2006 Ford Fusion: 2.3, 5 speed, could run 15lbs of boost with a 150 shot and it'd still be slow

It snowed here Thanksgiving morning. I drove the T/A the day before, just one last time before it's hibernation. It only snowed a couple inches, but our town loves to salt the roads with even a dusting. Therefore, I garaged it and covered it.

It sucks not being able to drive it, but I feel better knowing it's inside, protected from the elements and road grime.
