Manson was spared because ALL executions were stopped in the '72. The U.S. supreme court ruled on a California case, it wasn't the california supreme court... and all the prisoners in the country who were on death row had their sentences commuted to life.

And I don't believe for a second that it costs more to kill an inmate than it does to keep him for life. It costs in excess of $30,000/ yr to house each inmate. Over a 50 year life sentence that's over $1.5 million. There's no way it costs that much to execute someone, unless maybe you include the costs of fighting all their appeals. But there's a good way to affect that and that's to take away some of the appeals process. Of course, there should always be an appeal or two but the decades of like we have now is rediculous.

I have no sympathy for tookie. He was a murderer either directly or indirectly, and he ruined millions of young lives and the lives of their families.
I bet a family member of the murdered would do it for free.

Yeah.....not a whole lot of sympathy here for the guy either. I get so tired of people complaining about murderers getting punished for their crimes. Like was said before, he knew the consequences of his crimes when he committed them. The fact that the other 3 murders couldn't be proven with DNA means nothing to me. If he is only guilty of the one murder, then he deserves what he got. Even if he turned his life around, found Jesus, and wrote children's books...he deserved what he got. God will have forgiven him by now if he sincerely asked for forgiveness, so his soul wouldn't have been in danger in that case. But even the bible says that we are to follow the rules of our government (unless they contradict the bible), so he deserved what he got. I don't see what all the fuss is about. Justice, to a certain extent, has been done. Let it go.

They guy showed no remorse for what he did. And just because he changed his life around , if he did then good for him, does not make what he did go away at all.

The guy really doesnt deserve any more of my time.

Wow, I cant believe that anyone can feel one bit of remorse for this turd! He wrote childrens books so now hes a good guy and his life should be spared?? I think not! How can everyone just forget about the victims??? Can THEY rite childrens books now?? Can there families ever live a normal existance?? I get so steamed up when I see all those people out front of the jail boo hooing because they think in there tiny little brains were going to kill the next Dr. Seuss. While the victims and there families are completly forgotten about. What ever happened to making people responsible for there actions?? This was a bad man and no matter what he's done while in prison, it will never bring back the victims or repair there families lives. If you ask me, lethal injection was waaayy to good for this smoldering pile of dung. RIP....... HA How about BIH... Burn In He**

I hope I dont get deleted for this tyrade but this strikes a cord in me like no other. My friend, whom I was best man at his wedding, was murdered along with his 6 year old son, when the jerk, who lived in the apartment above him, tossed a moltov cocktail in my friends basement. It burned down his place killing him and his young son. His wife and other infant son survived. Do you think the'll ever be the same?? This guy was brought up on charges but let go on a technacality. Life goes on for this moron but my buddy wont be able to rite childrens books or his son read them.

There is a Blatent disreguard for life in this country and its getting worse. If we dont start remembering the victims and getting angry at what these thugs have done and making them responsable for there actions, I'm afraid were all in trouble.

You forgot to mention all of the rapes, robberies, drug deals, beatings and carjackings that the Crips are responsible for. I'm sure there are plenty of people that are afraid to so much as walk the streets because they may have a run in with the gang. Oh, can't forget about the ruined youths of people that decided to join the Crips either.

Don't forget what he did while in jail.

1981, Caught beating up an other inmate with his fists, and ignored orders to stop.

1982, Refused to an order to line up...and told a guard "you'll get yours boy, I can do anything now because I know what the gunmen will do...one of these days I'll trick you boy."

1982, Twice he attacked guards with chemical substances.

1984, Caught beating up another inmate and didn't stop until a guard fired a warning shot.

1984, Williams was caught making out with a female visitor. He told the guard then "you are looking around too much and that's not your job. I have dusted many officers on the street, one more would not make any difference."

1986, Caught beating up another inmate.

1988, He was stabbed in retaliation for a stabbing he ordered of another inmate.

1991, Caught beating up another inmate.

1993, Caught beating up another inmate.

No sympathy here whatsoever either. He got what was coming to him. He and his posse had plenty of resources and time to attempt to prove his innocence. They failed.

I also agree with the eye for eye ideology. I'm quite sure like Jeff said, you could find a survived victim or one closely related that would gladly give the accused the series of injections.

The way you talk about blondes! Shame on you! Consider what they've accomplished during the past year:

                                The Blonde Year In Review

January - Took her new scarf back to the store because it was too tight.

February - Ordered new drapes for her computer because it had windows.

March - Got excited when she finished a jigsaw puzzle in 6 months because the box said "2-4 years."

April - Was trapped on an escalator for hours when the power went out.

May - Couldn't make Kool-Aid because 8 cups of water wouldn't fit into the little packet.

June - Couldn't learn to water ski because she couldn't find a lake with a slope.

July - After losing in a breast stroke swimming competition, complained to the judges that the other swimmers were using their arms.

August - Told her blonde friend to hurry when trying to get into their locked car using a coat hanger because it was starting to rain and the top was down.

September - When asked what the capital of California was, answered "C".

October - Hates M&M's because they are so hard to peel.

November - Baked a turkey for 4 days because the instructions said 1 hour per pound and she weighed 120.

December - Couldn't call 9-11 because there was no "11" on any phone button.

Let's see you do any better!
