that I posted about earlier .......
anyway, rather than me re-tell what happened yesterday (i was unable to be there) here's an email my wife sent out to all the folks that donated money and sent stuff:

Hi,
I wanted to again thank all of you who so kindly donated to Mario and Tash.
The grand total of money/gift cards received for them is $2,235!!!!!!!! I
received boxes and boxes of clothes, blankets, toys and treats for Tash,
gift cards, collar/leash sets, 800 Soloxine tabs for Tash, etc. The
response has been overwhelming and heartwarming and I can't say THANK YOU
enough times to show my appreciation.
Jeanette and I went to the group home today where Mario and Tash are living.
I told Mario that I'd emailed some of my Golden friends and told them his
story and that I had "a few things for him" from some very caring and
special friends. When I opened the back of my Envoy and he saw all the
boxes, his eyes filled with tears and he hugged me. I then gave him the
cards that were sent to him and he carefully read each card and I could
really see how much each card meant to him. I then gave him an envelope
with some of the money and he cried. (Jeanette and I decided that we
probably shouldn't give it all to him at once, out of concern about him
having that much cash/gift cards in the group home, so we'll be getting
together again soon.) I told him I had more money for him but that I was
for the checks to clear........I didn't want him to think that we
didn't trust him or the guys he lives with, with alot of money. Tash,
meanwhile, stood by wagging his tail and looking very happy at some of the
toys I got out for him.
I've attached a few pictures of Mario and Tash. As you can see, Tash looks
like a typically happy Golden. He's on the thin side and his teeth don't
look too good, but appears to be in really good health. You can see that
Mario put on a jacket that was sent, but in one of the pics, you can see he
is wearing flip flops on his feet. I suggested he buy a pair of shoes or
boots and he thought it was a good idea!
Again, thank you for being so willing to help. Because I talk to give-up
owners every day, there are times that my faith in people is a little shaky,
but the response to my plea for help has restored my faith in a huge way and
I know that Mario feels the same way.
