Anyway, I had it on my computer and it changed my wall paper and my internet home page and wouldn't let me change them back, along with some other annoying changes. I could not for the life of me figure out how to get rid of it. Finally I found a website at www.techguylive.com . It is a service where a tech support representative can take control of your computer and fix whatever is wrong for a flat fee of $25 for a one-time service, or $30/month. Anyway, it took the guy like close to 2 hours, while I watched, to get rid of the bug, but he got 'er done. I was very impressed and would recommend the site to anyone who is not so compter savvy, like me, and is having problems. It is much cheaper than taking the computer to a service place where they would probably charge you $25/hr or calling a by-the-minute phone tech support line. Anyway, I told the guy I would tell my friends, and now I have. Just bookmark the site if you think you might ever need it. They got rid of a virus that Norton had no clue what to do about. Very cool.

I've always heard good things about PCcillin. However, I've had weird experiences with them and Windows server versions. At work, I have a test computer that runs Windows 2000 server...this used to be a physician's computer, which was full of spyware, viruses, etc. I ran a scan with PCcillin and it said 0 viruses were found. However, there was 3 viruses and 1 worm (and countless spyware) on the system. These viruses were preventing any file sharing over a network, and made start-up times horrible. Once I ran Norton, though, it found the viruses and worm, and killed them. The system now runs perfectly. The virus definition files were up to date on both Norton and PCcillin. I guess it's a problem with only server versions. But very odd theless.94 Black T/A GT, Advanced Induction 355, 3200 stall, built 4L60E, Moser 9", Baer Brakes, Shooting for 11s...

I am actually working on a laptop right now that is infected with Spy Sherriff and who knows what else.
You are right it is a pain in the butt to remove. I think it will be quicker to just "Nuke and Pave" the system. Let him start fresh. Especially since the only thing on his PC is IE, Party Poker, and an Online Casino.

Good to know, Kev. I don't deal too much with the I.T. aspect of our server machines, so I wasn't quite experienced with all the anti-viruses. Kinda makes me want to scan with Norton, McAfee, and Trend before I do some development on the server machines94 Black T/A GT, Advanced Induction 355, 3200 stall, built 4L60E, Moser 9", Baer Brakes, Shooting for 11s...

With Unix/Linux, I'm a bit rusty, as well. I have more experience with the C# .NET and ASP .NET. Hopefully, people need Windows/Web applications more than Unix and such.94 Black T/A GT, Advanced Induction 355, 3200 stall, built 4L60E, Moser 9", Baer Brakes, Shooting for 11s...
