Personally, I love the RX7. It is a true sports car. I'm not a big fan of the Diamond Star cars.

only think i dont like bout the RX7 was the gas mileage aint that good(nor is a v8s with its foot in it ) and a kid at skool had one, he had to replace the seals every 60K cuz it would burn massive oil and have blow by like crazy

3000gt's, for the most part, did not have performance equal to their styling. Mostly they were V6 FWD cars and were more than likely slower than a 3.8 V6 F-body. The twin turbo AWD version was very quick though. From what I hear though they had durability issues. The owners I've talked to always complained about something breaking.

Durability with Mits cars has always been a problem. They should stick to electronics.

I love RX-7's. I had an '83 model before my Camaro. The handle like they are on rails. I actually tried to get a loan to buy a '95 model, but couldn't get financed on a used car, so ended up getting the Camaro. One of the guys that used to work on my car in Texas at a place called Rotary Performance, his name was Ari something or other, anyway...for a while there he had the fastest streetable RX-7 in the country...running like high 9's? The thing was sick. I wish they would bring them back with similar looks to the '93-'95 models. I would have to consider buying one.

I remember reading in a magazine that they said the RX7 was as close to a true race car as you could buy off the show room floor. Even with less HP than a Supra or 300ZX, it was so well balanced that it was rated very highly.

I prefer the Dodge Stealth instead of the 3000GT, and the RX-7 is a sweet little coupe.

It's unfortunate that Mitsubishi makes an inferior automotive product because the VR4 really is a nice looking car...

I've driven several of the older RX7's and they are a well balanced high revvin' fun car to drive. I drove a friend of mine's 1988 10th Anniversary Turbo and it pulled pretty hard up top. I also got to drive a 1994 before they discontinued the RX7. I love how the tach beeps at you when you redline it. The cool thing about the RX7's is that they will let you pull past the redline even after it starts to beep at you.

How far are you willing to go past the redline on those?? Isnt it like 9000-10000 rpm? I'd be afraid to even get it to the redline even thouh i know it can take it.

You could rev the piss out those motors all day long. IMO the Wankel Rotary motor was a brilliant idea, it just ate up Apex seals.

There is a video of an 80's one lasting like 5 or 6 minutes at WOT on streetfire. I'll try to find it if you guys haven't seen it. The beauty of the design is that hp wise, they act like an engine 3 times their size. On the other hand, torque kicks them in the butt for the small engine. BTW, the engines are really cheap to rebuild...apex seals... and if you streetport them, they fly.
edit: BTW, they are really fun to watch blow up too.....hahahaha
