  • Some days things just get handed to you.

A few times each week as I am leaving work either for an errand or on my way to another location, I get annoyed by a ricer. This guy in particular has a new SRT4 in bright blue. Most times I'm in my blue 94 Camaro and of course this guy has to constantly mess with me. Most times I ignore him, the other day in particular I ended up at a light with him. Of course he's ready to race. My son happened to be in the car, I rolled down the window and got his attention. I said "I'm not even going to think about it with my son in the car" , of course he's disappointed but with the look of overconfidence. With my 94, I could have drilled him at the light and probably held him off until maybe 45. In the corners, he's my lunch. In any case, it's just not worth it.

Yesterday I'm leaving work as usual and what do I see? You guessed it. Mr. Ricer Dude with his blowoff valve SRT4. I get next to him, I roll down my window and say "my kid's not with me today." He looks stunned. He starts muttering something about the car not being race ready, blah blah blah. It's no wonder he's not so smug. I just happened to take the T/A to work that day, still wearing the big and littles. I throw a rev so he can hear the 4" mufflex and he just sits there with this sick look on his face. I drop it into gear and slowly cruise off with a nice rumble while Mr. Ricer Dude just hangs back and stares. I didn't even have to waste my gas to hand him his @zz.

That's some funny stuff. Good job Joe.

Last year, I was cruising home from work in my 05 Vette. Some kid in a SRT4 pulles up next to me, revving and doing the typical ricer thing. Traffic was clear and no one around so I drop the hammer on him from a first gear roll. When he catches up to me at the light, he starts talking about gearing and that he knows he can take me on the highway. I point forward and say "The highway is right there". Well, to make a long story short, AFTER he caught up to me, he gave me a thumbs up.

Let me add this as a friendly reminder to all. If you ever come up next to an EVO 8 MR and decide to play, you had better give it all you got and walk that sukka out of the hole. I drove one a couple weeks ago and they are very quick.

Nice work, Joe. Those are always the best kind of kills.

This past summer, I was driving down our main drag (2 lanes each way, lots of traffic lights). I had the tops off, just enjoying the early evening. I'm sitting at a light, and next thing I know, I hear the ridiculous sound of a coffee can muffler to my left. I look over, and it's a kid in a Scion TC with his girlfriend.

The greatest part about the whole thing, is his girlfriend wouldn't stop staring at my car. He's revving his fart can up, so I throw my revs up to three grand. The LoudMouth versus the fart can wasn't even close. The light turns green, I just cruise off normally. He waits, then pulls in my lane behind me. I loved it.

            Great kill joe!

I had a kill exactly like that long ago (around 1993), in my old 87 Iroc.

It had a built 350 in it, all forged with a nice cam and DartII Sportsman heads. Hooker long tubes and a custom bent true dual system that exited under the bumper.

Saying it sounded mean would be an understatement. It sounded absolutely wild.

I was at a light and a 5.0 pulls up next to me. He gives me the look. I toss him a rev. His jaw drops, he takes his look back. He's not interested in racing any more suddenly.

I cant wait to get headers on my Z. Hopefully that will be a upcoming springtime mod. Headers, SFCs, polygraphite antiswaybar bushings and a 1LE Driveshaft. It will sound pretty good with headers and the cutout open on the Borla!

Some kid in a SRT4 last night was reving his engine at me and my wife in her jetta station wagon. My wife looked over and gave him the big loser symbol to the forehead.

Great story joe. I love when people act hard when you're in 1 car, then when you get into another they have nothing to say.

Tracy, when you put headers on that car, you will never want to run with your cutout closed. I ran open headers for a day, until I could get to a shop to weld my catback on. That sound is so great, I was tempted to get a cutout myself

Ahhhh-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha. Gotta love the SRT-4 boys lol. I had one toying with me on my way back to work after dropping my boss off for an appt. (I think he just likes my car ). Well, after getting a red light and lining up, all-of-a-sudden he can't shift or launch. Needless to say, he didn't catch up anymore. Its not like the Z is fast or anything...

Everytime I go to the track there isn't an srt-4 that isn't running low 13's high 12's. Lots were deep into the 12's and mid 12's. I don't take those guys lightly.

The best thing to do to an SRT-4 owner is call their car a Neon. You wanna see someone fly off the handle? Works every time.

Or just a Regal period. What's even more frustrating is all the stuff you can find if you call a GN a Regal...ugh. Granted its a trim package, but still...its good enough to be its own car for some things lol .

As for the faster SRT-4's, there's not nearly as many around that tweak them as you might think. The ones you do see at the track are there for and because of one thing. You're not gonna see many stock SRT-4's because, in stock form, they aren't all that impressive.
