Just in case you weren't feeling too old today, this will certainly change things.. Each year the staff at Beloit College in Wisconsin puts together a list to try to give the faculty a sense of the mindset of this year's incoming freshmen. Here's this year's list:

The people who are starting college this fall across the nation were born in 1987.

They are too young to remember the space shuttle blowing up.

Their lifetime has always included AIDS.

Bottle caps have always been screw off and plastic.

The CD was introduced the year they were born.

They have always had an answering machine.

    They have always had cable.

They cannot fathom not having a remote control.

Jay Leno has always been on the Tonight Show.

Popcorn has always been cooked in the microwave.

They never took a swim and thought about Jaws.

They can't imagine what hard contact lenses are.

They don't know who Mork was or where he was from.

They never heard: "Where's the Beef?", "I'd walk a mile for a Camel", or "de plane, Boss, de plane".

They do not care who shot J. R. and have no idea who J. R. even is.

McDonald's never came in Styrofoam containers.

They don't have a clue how to use a typewriter.

I was born in 1985 and i just got cable TV for the first time in my life last weekend. And the only reason for that is becuase i went away to Western Illinois University and it comes with room and board in the dorm. Man i love it.

In 1975 we got cable when we moved to Kaneohe. Had to 'cause the TV station antennas were all on the other side of the mountains.

1975 saw the following movies at the theater:

      Death Race 2000
      The Great Waldo pepper
Monty Python and The Holy Grail
      Rollerball
The Man Who would Be King
      The Stepford Wives
      Dog Day Afternoon

add to the 1975 vs 2005 list:

they don't know what a record player is, or reel to reel tape

soda can pull tabs have always stayed attached to the can

False, false and false...for me anyways lol

We had a record player when I was a kid, I annoyed the heck outta my mom with the Beach Boys

Watched a few old family movies when I was a kid on my grandparents old reel-to-reel.

I've had quite a few soda-can tabs pop off on me...grrrrr

And my dad had a Betamax VCR...I still remember having to hunt down Beta tapes at the movie rental places.

And that's all from an 80's child lol

I'm not the oldest person here (I won't bring up any names because I don't want to make "the list"), but I'm far from the youngest (I'm 32).

I was talking to my friend's wife last week about high school. We graduated together. Anyway, she said one of our classmates suffered a severe heart attack and nearly died a couple months ago. A heart attack.

Then we got thinking... We've been out of high school for 15 years now. I guess it hit me because I never really thought about it. Thank God I have my mid-life crisis to fall back on (the T/A).

Well........how many of you remember any of the following:

When the operator had to make all long distance calls.

              Party lines

              Phone numbers without area codes

Phone numbers that had letters in them

              No idoor plumbing.

              Life before Television

              Telegrams

              Vacuum Windshield wipers in cars

Shopping before Malls or Shopping Centers existed

              5 cent candy bars

              Polio

              No fast food chains

Now if you can say you remember any of these or actually experienced them......then you are old. I remember all of the above and lots more too.

                How about gasoline at 29.9

Remember when about 99% of cars had carberators and points

                A Volkswagen I owned had a 6 volt battery

How about AM only radio in cars

                Dash mounted push button shifters

                Bias Ply Tires

                3 speed manual transmission

                Pull Choke

What about the days when power brakes and power steering were an option

OMG I feel old now..... Better go take a nap...

Right, except my Brother had the shoes on Saturdays, so I had to walk barefoot.
