Actually I would recommend a glider to start with. They fly slow and give you time to think. A standard trainer still flies pretty fast. I never learned to land my power plane (in 1 piece) until I got my glider.
This thing flies great. http://www.carlgoldbergproducts.com/lady.htm It's sporty enough to do all kinds of maneuvers. I've had 2 of them.

Before you do anything do you have a place to fly? They are getting harder and harder to find with urban expansion. There is no point in getting a plane if you have no place to fly it. Cars and helicopters can be used in a smaller area.

I have to tell you the most fun you can have with your cloths on is chasing a dog or a cat with a RC car. It's even better if it's 4 wheel drive. Dogs never learn. Cats on the other hand after one time will vanish when they see you bring it out. LOL
2002 Electron Blue Vette, 1SC, FE3/Z51, G92 3.15 gears, 308.9 RWHP 321.7 RWTQ (before any mods), SLP headers, Z06 exhaust, MSD Ignition Wires, AC Delco Iridium Spark Plugs, 160 t-stat, lots of ECM tuning

    1995 Z28, many mods, SOLD

The county has undeveloped park land that I see guys fly at.So that should not be an issue.
I tried out one of those Nitro 4 wheel drive skylines. They are quick.
How do you launch that glider? sling shot?

LOL a quick start or high start. I was amazed at how high they would get the plane. My glider has a 2 meter wingspan and it is just a dot in the sky when it gets to altitude. You can fly for about 15 minutes on a launch. Actually the hardest thing is getting it to land. If I get back into I am going to add something to the wing and hook it to a servo to kill the lift to get it to land. You could stand at the end of a football field and throw it and it will clear the goal line on the other end.

I had kicked the habbit but now you got me thinking about it again.

Here's the A-7 that is still in one piece. This is a ducted fan jet glider that is a great way to learn the skills. My 8 year old is having a blast with it, he just did his first loop. It has just enough power to do some basic stunts but not fast enough to really get you into trouble. The glier portion is fun too. You can boost it up to altitude and ride the air currents. I've got to be careful as I am on the decent path next to the airport and this thing sometimes ends up on the airport's approach path. It will also get high enough that it's difficult to see it's orientation.

Haaha - if you 2 guys could get Anne Margaret to agree to it you could make a movie about grumpy mid-aged tough guys with hot cars and a has-been sex kitten who can't make up her mind about lipo or botox and which of you she is going to let work on her plumbing.

Snapped a nice pic this moring while I was flying. It's tricky, but I think I can snap some good photos while still maintaining control. I had just pulled out of a dive and was climbing. If my battery hadn't ran out on the camera I would have a great flyby pic. I'll have to work on that tomorrow.

This was taken with the plane at about 175 ft and the camera on max zoom.

I suppose I could. I think I'm going to do some "detailing" to make the damage look like it got shot up and can still fly. It needs a new motor so I can do that at the same time. This stuff is addicting. I can't wait until the Raptor is ready. I'm also drawing up plans for a minature flight deck with catapault.

How are you going to power the catapult? LOL How about a Co2 cartridge? LOL An air cylinder would work. Hey make the flight deck an RC aircraft carrier. Scaled it would be what 80 feet long. LMAO You could put an LT1 in it. Actually 3 would be better. This is out of control. Come to think of it the air cylinder would have to have a stroke of 20 feet.
