I figure this is a reasonable board capable of handling issues. After reading this article I think this pretty much sums up our situation with a large chunk of the world and figure it is worth on mention here

I think there are definately some very good, and valid points being made here. It's really terrible that the focus always has to be on violence or protest of some kind, rather than a number of other ways to celebrate their religion even if they choose not to accept the ways of others. Catholics, jews, and hindus, many times are satisfied with their religion and can be content with what they believe and a good "to each his own" outlook on things. But a few pictures get printed in a paper and the radical islams aare burning things and making death threats??? To me that is not a celebration o religion. Its just terrorism.

The problem is that the US is just as guilty. We hang, burn or some other kind of extreme torture just because people have different beliefs, conduct, mode of dress..... etc. It happens to almost any age group too. Oh, wait a minute...... that was the Winston Salem Witch Trials from a few centuries ago.

The problem with most of these places is religion drives their lives. I completely understand being spiritual.... But they use it as a crutch. Supposedly it's not terrorism or rioting, rather it's "freedom fighting" or "religious defense".

Unfortunately, they see no reason to learn from all this because to them, it's not really a mistake. They view it as progression even.

Exactly, as a Christian, I see/hear blasphemous depictions, symbols, speech, etc. against Christ in my own country even, but I feel no need to kill those responsible. Actually, I just pray for them.

Anyhow, their reactions of violence just speaks volumes of their culture.

Geesh, maybe our new method to root out islamic extremists should be to publish cartoons and let them come to us. Just keep publishing cartoons and wiping out the wack-o's that riot over them... Eventually all the wack-o's will be gone and the world can live in peace.
