assuming there are 26 pay checks (every 2 weeks) ~ $230.77 gross before deductions... assuming worst case scenario 1/3 paycheck is sucked away by friviolous taxes, ins, retirement (~$76.85). That leaves $153.92 more than you made previously... being more anaylitical 230.77/80 hrs every 2 weeks That is an extra ~$2.88 per hour and again assume you only really take home 2/3 of that in real world... You get an extra $1.92 per hour
in short ... Go ahead and splurge on the Slurpee
May not seem much in the short term but if saved... it eventually adds up to a Wolfman-beating Vette
Man major congrats.. at the rate they give raises where I'm at... It will take nearly a decade to match you . Pat youself on the back you've earned it
Congrats Jay... I just got a 4k raise myself, but mine included a promotion.. by the time Uncle Sam got a hold of mine, it works out to about $45 dollars extra a week. To take the promotion I have to go into the office more. That's a 35 mile round trip 3 times a week, so after I pay for gas there's not much left.

Thanks!
I did some of that math myself - and got pretty similar numbers. The coolest thing is that it's about an extra $300 a month than what I was used to.
My car payment is about $350.
This is basically like getting a free car when you look at it that way
