    Wolfie, I was 19 when I bought my WS6.

The only part of your equation that I agree with is "not enough skill"... and I might add "not enough brains".

well, driving "skills" come with practice and learning evasive and preventative actions that can only be aquired by actual events learned over many years of driving experience with high perf. cars......... you dont get that at 19 when your parents buy you a 400hp gto and take your set of extra keys to thier Tahoe back........

At that age you think you know everything and parents think there kids are good drivers and responsible. That was probably the parents car that he was allowed to take out for a drive with friends.

Last night while filling up at a gas station I saw a 19-20yr old floor his car towards his friends who were comming out of a store just to stop a foot infront of them. The guy got out and laughed.

You just dont think what if there was ice there or something. It's bad judgement on the teens part unfortunately it costed him his life.

Hmmm... well I don't know why we assume the parents bought the car for him. I bought mine all on my own. 400 HP no (it was by the time I sold it though), but there's not a substantial performance difference between a '02 WS6 and a '05 GTO. Both cars can hit the 12s bone stock.

Stupid and inexperienced, probably... I'm just not willing to concede that simply because he was 19, he couldn't handle the power of the GTO.

My guess would be more lack of brains than anything else. I agree that experience defiantely would have helped as a preventative measuer, but stupidity is probably the prevailing idea. So many kids get in their cars and want to basically go fast because people are watching. This is the result sometimes. It should be seen as more of a warning i think than anything else, that this kind of stuff can happen, and while it is always best to have more experience in handling emergency situations the moral here for EVERYONE wouls be to keep the speed at the track.

Couldn't agree more. You have to know when to lay off the gas. Just because your car is a stunning performer on the track doesn't mean that it will always pull through on the street. People forget about sand, wet leaves, black ice, etc. It's a shame.
