  • Grrr.... the T/A left me stranded last night

It's been running fine, left work to pick up my son, hit the drive through for dinner and stopped by my office. Shut it off, came out after a half hour and wouldn't even hold idle. A couple more ties and she won't fire at all. No codes either. I suspect its a case of Opticus Destructus. To make it worse, AAA took over 2½ hours to get to me. Oh well, time to tear into it.

ok... so I don't use spell check.

Everything breaks eventually. I would have thought this one would get me more than 40K. Might be time to look into that Delteq.

That's too bad, Joe. Hopefully it's something simple, but as you already stated, it's probably the opti.

At least you have a few spare F-bodies to drive around while you fix this one.

I would think the OPTI would throw a code if it died. I'm wondering more about something like the coil or coil wire.

Oh yea, "get that great GM feeling." LOL I used to say that all the time when I drove a Ford and a GM owner would say something about their car dieing.

Spent a couple of minutes with it this morning. The scanner reads the computer. No codes, Sensors appear normal. 44 psi fuel pressure, an no spark from the coil. So far, that's all I had time for.

See if you can borrow a scope from someone, or maybe a local parts store that you know. Some scanners will only show active codes by default, and you have to manually tell the scanner to look for stored codes that were set, but are now inactive. Maybe a noid light on the injectors as well just to see what's going on.

I should be able to run though things with a digital volt meter and narrow it down. It's finding the time to do it. My job at the moment has me slammed. I might be able to get to it this weekend.

But I'm glad you got it home ok. I never knew an opti could go south with no notice or no codes.
