  • THE 4th gen forum

OK, guys I'll admit I have been gone a while and I've been spending time over at the thirdgen.org forum. It's just, unless your running a LT1, LS1, or LS6 you need to be posting on the thirdgen site. Not that yall dont know anything about thirdgens, its just that all the talk is over there and tech info is out the wazoo on ANY third gen questions. It just occurred to me today how this forum is almost entirely 4th gen based.

    1992 RS 25TH Anniversary (with Heritage package) A4 305 TBI (L03), Mobile 1 Synthetic, Flowmaster 80 Series Cat-Back, 17"x 8" Cragar style rims(painted grey)/Hankook Ventus 245/45Z17....350 Coming One Day......

That may be true, but I have to say, these guys can still answer any questions I might have for them...and the quality of the people here can't be beat on any other message board on the net. period. Thats why I usually read what i need to from other sites but make this my f-body home.

That's why I mostly post in the off-topic forum here. Don't have one at thirdgen.org, but there is a board just for us V6 owners. I can usually find the answer I need just by searching on thirdgen.

Basically this tech of this forum is more f-body in general as a whole. There are folks on here with all generations, it's just not so specific to just one particular group of years. Of course being more specific to certain years increases the depth of knowledge.

I don't mind the 4th gen "bias" . It is the people on this board that makes me stay. Plus, someday, I'll have a 4th gen. Then I will know all i need to know bout em.

What do you think us 4th gen guys owned pre-93?

              3rd gens!

Just because we own 4th gens doesnt mean we dont know the 3rd gens really well. We've been there, done that, got the hat and t-shirt to prove it.

I've owned 3 3rd gen Camaros myself, Converted one from 2.8 to 5.7 and did an engine swap in another one. I know the engine bay of a 3rd gen like the back of my hand!

While it is true this board is 4th gen biased. I can't stand the attitudes on thirdgen. I posted a few questions there and found it easier to just figue it out on my own than deal with the smart A$$ BS over there. I then stubleed upon this board, by accident a year later. I'll never go back It most definatly is the people and the attitudes here that keep me coming back.

The reason there is mostly 4th gen people here, is because you have to remember, the 4th gen came out in '93. That was 13 years ago. The likelyhood of having the majority of f-body people owning something 13 years or newer is obvious.

Still, there is a wealth of knowledge across all generations here. As Tracy stated, some of us owned F-bodies prior to the 4th gen body style. I owned two 2nd gens myself. I did just about all the work on them as well. A friend of mine owns an '89 Iroc. He's a lurker on these boards now. He converted from being over at thirdgen.org because of the way he was treated. He was amazed at how respectful people can be over here.

He said if he saw the words "Just pull the codes" posted one more time over there whenever someone asked a tech question, he was going to punch his monitor.

Alright boys, alright. This forum is 4th gen biased, although I doubt its because 3rdgens are well.....older. Thirdgen.org has over 44,000 members so if its been done you're going to find info on it over there. But I understand completely what you guys are talking about when it comes to the people on the boards, theres a definite difference. All you guys are understanding and welcoming no matter the post, and you give info on the best of your knowledge. Most of the time I'm just asking tech questions and not carrying on convos or taking up sides. And one day I'll be the owner of a SS or Formula so all the info I digest here will go to use. I just gotta get that ZZ4 in this RS first.........
