ittle over a year and half ago i put a wheelskin on our 2005 Envoy... realy like the feel of the wheel and the fit and finish..but what a frigin nightmare of a job... took 1hr and 40 min. the very strong cord that comes with them to lace them on with is thickly coated with a sticky wax. That helps the stitches stay tight when you pull them together on your way to the next one... but it also makes the cord tend to knot and bundle up while you pull it through during the lacing process.. you have to be carefull laying it down even... talk about cussin!!! LOL Then, God help you if you miss a hole or go "over the top" when you should have gone "thru the inside"... you have to pull them loose and start back at where your messed up... aaaaaaah. hardest part is around the sections of the wheel that support the outter wheel.. you need to put "dummy" stitches in the front then make sure you hit the right hole on the backside when you resume stitching, in the right sequece of "over-under-over".... Then when your are done... you have to clean up all those wax "snow flakes" that have now invaded your interior....hahahahahahaha .... but what the heck...
yall that have done this can relate im sure!
neat thing about it is......if you dont like it "down the road"...take it off, no permanant damage and it does save your O.E. wheel... I like the feel better than OE... its easier to grip ....the leather is premium quality and nice and thick..
so...... i ordered one for the gto........ did it this morning . Took me a little over an hour, guess having done it before helped... Here's the Envoy and the goat:
