Since gas is going up

my truck is outta the question for a new daily driver . but i have found 4 other cars i like but one of them is outta the price range, want to kno what u guys would pick with a $10K limit

2001 Toyota Celica GT - 40K, $9,000. 1.8L 140hp I4, 4spd auto. pretty well loaded. since its a toyota its gonna last, my boss has 215K on his celica. gets mid to high 20s in mpg city driving

1999 Honda Accord - 2.4L, 5spd, 76K, $6,000. pretty decent car, not a fan of 4drs but will live if i have 2. gets 24 and 30mpg(24 is double what my t/a is gettin now and 5 more then what the acclaim was gettin)

2001 Pontiac Grand AM GT - sport, 3.4L, auto, 32K, 8600$, like the style but scared of the intake and dex-cool

2000+ Chevy Monte Carlos - price but nice sharp car.

Please, not the Celica. It's a chick car!! Every one I have ever seen had a chick behind the wheel. I had two aunts that have had them in the past. If your gonna go that way you need the Celica on stroids....the Supra, but you already have a sports car so thats not an option. Go with the Grand Am GT its what I voted for. I'm sure it has plenty of power. My dads 00' Grand Prix has the 3.8 with tons of power and the 3.4 shouldnt feel much different. PONTIAC!

i forgot to mention gas is a HUGE part. its already up to 2.35-2.40 a gallon for 87 and yes i kno its a girls car but hey, its a gas sipper, and like hell if im driving a corolla

Take a Monte....3.8L has good power and still gets decent milage. Reliability is bullet proof, so it'll last you a long time. They look really good in black.

Don't you have a 406 to get dropped into your car? That'll be all the power you want. Get whatever is best on gas. Probably the Accord.

If snow isn't a problem for you, you can always get a V6 F-body. If it is an issue, I personally would get an Eclipse. The 94 ish- 99 models. I think they're sharp looking.

you'll be hard pressed to find a better daily driver as far as reliability and mpg goes than an accord. That's a decent price too.

Yeah, maybe the Accord. Monte would get about the same milage, but when you bring price into it, it's probably a different ballgame. On the plus side, it has a 5-speed!

I would go with the Accord if we are basing it on gas mileage and reliability. You can snag one fairly cheap, and the coupes aren't terrible looking... A little plain, but not awful.

I'm still sticking with the Grand Am or Monte. They both will have tons more power than the Accord while maintaining good mpg too. Plus they will last forever if you treat them good.

well the accord is outta the question, was sold 5 minz after i called . but i have been able to find a couple Monte Carlo SS's(2000-present) for 7 or 8 grand with 60K on em. gotta talk to the folks.

edit: When the 406 does go in, i doubt ill pass CT emissions with it plus i drive thru the mountains to get to skool, so some power would be nice

Just be patient and find the right car for the right price. Don't just settle for something that seems to be good right away.

There are lots of good little puddle jumpers out there!

yea but i dont want a puddle jumper, i want something that is nice and im not always working on. ive had 93 tarus and then this 92 acclaim, both required more work then i got the cars for. now its time for me to find a car that will last me more then a year or 2

Do the SS Monte Carlos have a supercharger like the Grand Prix GTP's??? If so, I know the GTP's have to use Super Unleaded gasoline. Apparently they have to run a little richer because of the supercharger. So if the SS's are charged you might need to look into a standard model with the base 3.8.
