it sucks to get one... best advice I can give you is ALWAYS fight the ticket. Odds are the fine will be reduced at a minimum if they don't drop the ticket... or you can always hire a traffic attourney to plead your case.

Good luck and awesome color for a car you have there

I definitely say to plead not guilty. They'll reduce your fine guaranteed. The first ticket I got was for doing 71 in a 55. I got a $260 ticket. I plead not guilty (even though I was guilty as all get-out) and they reduced the fine to $55 and never touched the points on my license as it was my first offense.

Since its your first time defiantely go to court at the very least i have to agree with everyone here that the fine will be reduced. And hey, now we can ask officer Taso all of our police related questions too, congrats to him again!

I go more than 10 over to pass folks at times too. And well, they can only pull over one car...and yours was it.

I say go to court and contend the ticket. The worst that can happen is you waste a little time.

My dad told me of a time that him and a friend were going done the highway behind this guy and having a blast key up the mic on his radio some way, and the guy in front would immediately slam on his brakes.

my backelors' major is law enforcement, i've done a lot of research over countless topics (speed guns included), and im very good at arguing. how many cars were around you? wut was the weather? what side of the road was the officer on when he detected you? i doubt it but was he over 1000 feet away when he detected you? but u might not know that info.

you may think some of these are worthless questions but i have my reasons.

there is no affirmative way to alter your vehicle to interfere with the speed gun' results (aside from laser jamming systems, however such laser counter measures are illegal under federal law) but there have been noted flaws in several speed guns. a number of laser speed guns models have had problems with accuracy and other areas of performance.

              IMPORTANT!!!
there is something called the MD5 Defense. it discloses a algorithmic flaw w/ a certain speed detection device used by police, but i cant remember the kind and model at the moment.

Fir3bird Chick, if this is the worst thing that happens to you, you are leading a charmed life. If you don't get a ticket at some point during the ownership of a powerful sports car like a v8 firebird, you're just not driving it. If the hipocrite judge asks you why you were going 72 in a 60, just tell him that you felt the plugs loading up and you needed to blow out some carbon. Judges don't obey the laws any more than the average smuck. I think there ought to be at least one day a year where the citizens get to line them all up, along with the traffic cops, and smack them upside the head.
