  • OnStar in new Camaro

Yeah, got to thinking about it today and I'm not really sure on where GM stands on what models they put OnStar in but do they put them in GTO's and Vettes or just the Tahoes and stuff? Will the new Camaro have OnStar? And I wonder why they didn't put them in the 98-02' models. Seems like a nice thing to have if your car were to get stolen or something.

I think they are in some of the SUV's now, maybe norm can tell us if they are in the vettes or not, and wolfman for the GTO's. Maybe it will be an option on the new camaro, but it would defiantely be a good option for theft purposes and in case of an accident.

Well I was in a bit of a rush and I was going well into 100 and I get a call, turns out it was Onstar saying "Is this Mr. XXXX driving? I'm going to have to ask you to immediately slow down your vehicle or we will send your vehicle information to the NJ state police." Now being that I didn't feel like getting i ticket i just said fine and nothing happened...I'd rather not think about what would happen had I stayed at that speed. So I am keeping it a bit lower now on the speed side I've been going about 85 on the parkway now and have had no problems.

I have to say that I am fairly shocked by this information. Why on earth, is it some corporate entity's business whether you abide by traffic laws or not. But more to the point, I am concerned that the entity knows. With OnStar in my truck and my grocery store's "Courtesy Card" in my wallet, the scenes depicted in "Minority Report" are with us now.

I pity the SOB that would call me up via onstar and pull that. Once quick jab of a screwdriver or hammer would rectify the whole onstar scenerio. The bottom line is that it would be removed in pieces and very quickly.

Onstar is doing themselves a disservice by reporting their paying customers to police. Something just doesn't seem at all right with that scenario. Not a good way to create business.

What if I had Onstar in a brand new Vette, and took it to the local road course? I would love to field that call from Onstar.
