  • What happened to gas prices?

Ok...so, what happened this time? Since yesterday, gas in my area has gone up .25/gal. It was 2.25 and it's now 2.50. Did someone in the middle east utter threatening statements again? Or maybe that new military operation in Iraq? I swear, this market is way too sensitive.

I'm glad I filled up yesterday. On a side note, here's an interesting little toy:

I've noticed that every time the news reports oil prices dropped in the market, gas prices rise that evening....yea, that makes a lot of sense...I guess their record profits last year just wern't enough

A little off topic but, does it cost more to manufacture 93 octane over 87. Or are they just doing it because they can?

It jumped overnight here too, by about 15-20 cents. We're paying about 2.39 for regular, usually 2.59-2.69 for premium.

I figured the jump was because of changing from winter gas to summer gas.

The way oil can go up and down by huge amounts realy reminds me of the dot com erra. Alot of people who shouldn't be traiding are thinking they can make a quick return, thats on the raw materials for gas but still.

Also any way oil companies can justify making more money they will, atm there wasn't a jump in crude prices but it is getting closer to driving season so they can forcast less supply in the near future so they up the prices to help with (possible) higher resupply fees.

Usully when a natrual catastrophe hits a industry that industry is in financial ruins (look at farmers) yet Exon/moble recorded the best single quarter profits from any company ever over that period last year, just a little odd isn't it.
