I know I didn't do a lot of explaining. I went to U of M school of dentistry in Ann Arbor three times. The first time they said I had to wait until I was 18 and my face was done growing. 18 came around, and I saw them again. They didn't know what to do, but I did need surgery, so they said come back after the surgery. Went back again and was turned away. The guy basically said they didn't have the time. I got the vibe from him that he didn't want to get involved with my case. It's pretty severe. He didn't want any part of it. I saw a dentist last week about getting some kind of partial, because I'm missing two teeth on my upper. I just wanted a temp fix. He couldn't do it because the tooth that it would clamp to was a baby and on the verge of falling out itself. It didn't have enough root he said. The partial was $900, insurance doesn't help pay for that either he said.

Also, as far as govt. grants and insurance go... It is congenital, I was born with it. They will never cover it, and I am not eligible for any grants. It isn't "Medical." Now, if I were to wreck and smash my face against the steering wheel and knock them out, then they'd replace them all with stud implants. But since I was born with it, they will not help. Remember, congenital, NOT medical. My case is not medical. And yes, I've thought about pulling them and saying they got knocked out somehow, but keep in mind that the insurance has records of everything I've ever had done, so there isn't any guarantee they'd fix it.

I have complained about the pain. He offered me vicodin. lol. Insurance companies will pay for a lifetime supply of vicodin but not the real fix.

I doubt there is anything somebody could tell me I haven't heard already. I've been dealing with this since I was about 12. Seen many doctors, and been to U of M a few times, like I said above.

I scratched the idea anyway, I love the Z, and like said above, it's risky. No guarantee I could get what I need for it, and I don't want to end up selling like 5K worth, then lose out on the car.

Why not try to contact other universities. From what your describing this sounds pretty rare and may be something that they might like the publicity they could create with it. A plane ticket to anywhere in the country is a lot cheaper than anything of your other options.

There is a website out there that connects people who need money with investors/gifters. It was designed for people who have business/invention ideas to get funding they normally couldn't, but you can use it for anything. They way it works is this (If I remember correctly the article I read): You post the amount you need and the reason you need it, people sign up to commit x amount of dollars to you, and once you have your chosen amount committed to you, everyone pays. If you don't get the rquired committments, then no one pays. That way the investors/gifters won't get stuck paying into something that won't go anywhere. This might be something you want to try. Post up your problem, be very detailed in what you've tried so far so that people know you're out of options. Post some pictures of your mouth. The amount you ask for is up to you... you could ask for a smaller amount that might be more realistic to get that would help offset your costs, or you could ask for the whole amount you'll need for the surgery and risk not getting enough commitments.

The problem is that at this time I don't remember the website, but I'll research it for you and get back to you. I remember where I read about it, so it's only a matter of finding my back issue.

Here's an article about it: ARTICLE

Look into it, do some research on it, and if you decide to try it post it up here. I'm sure there are guys here who would help you out.
