    1 out of every 10 kids in US are going hungry?

    You got to be kidding me. I've seen the displays at the grocery store, and heard it on the radio too. They are asking for donations and claiming that 1 out of every 10 kids in this country is going hungry. They are claiming 10,000 hungry kids in Dane county alone. Insane.

    Oh, I can do better than that. Here's a little statistic for you:

    Everyone in America goes hungry . . . three times a day.

    You know the "1-in-10" statistic is phony when obesity among children is considered to be a major health problem.

      The polling company asked kids if they had ever been hungry. How many kids do you know have never ever answered no to that question. I'm surprised it didn't come back 100% of all kids are hungry.

      That's like a poll that says has Bush ever done anything wrong. Then the headlines read "poll says 90% of country dissatisfied with Bush".

        I was thinking the exact same thing as roger.
        Very good point jeff. I could just eat a meal and a half hour later be hungry again. That doesn't mean I am going hungry and not fed, it means I control my appetite and try to eat around the same time frame throughout the day with small meals. Now if I were to eat 2 or 3 large meals throughout day and someone asked me a half hour later after eating one of those, my answer would be no i'm not hungry. Its all in the context of the question. Did they ask these kids right before they went to bed? I am always hungry before bed!

            The kids are too busy talking to their friends on their cell phones and taking the time out of their social schedules to have a nutritious meal with the family is not stylish. A lot of them are fat, but they are undernourished.
