Geeze...my kid is turning into a motorhead

The WS6's exhaust was sounding a little strange so I hooked up the scanner...... bank 1 primary 02 sensor looked a little lazy and the fuel trim was off. No biggie, put in a new sensor and took my son out for a test drive. I'm looking at the scanner and he's hitting me with question after question......so I hand it over and gave him a few basic instructions. This little motorhead stops on each parameter and is asking me the how and why of each one. I swear his nose was buried in that scanner for the whole half hour cruise, now he's accurately decoding all the abbreviations of the sensors, reading voltages, etc..... unreal that an 8 year old seems to be able to use a scanner and understand what is going on.

Kids are so observant. It's amazing how much they soak in so quickly.

It's all that Game Boy training. They just relate to all that stuff. When I was a kid, somebody showed me a portable HP calculator with nixie tubes in it and said it had 19 memories and cost $400 - I was amazed. we weren't even allowed to have one in high school and no one had one anyway. The smart kids had fancy slide rules they got from their dads. We never had any of the stuff they do now that is taken for granted. Kids are great at all of the technology stuff - on a user level, anyway.

I guess the apple don't fall far from the tree. Kids have the advantage of not being intimidated by new things. Especially when it comes to hi tech stuff. I noticed the same thing with my 11 yr old.
