  • This Is What's Wrong With The Media

Makes me sick. Where's the articles about all the happy Iraqis? Where are all the great stories that countless men and women serving over there have brought home? Oh yeah... Buried in the "Will Never Print This" files.

Maybe because the Iraq initiative is a miserable failure.

        There I said it. I suppose I'm now un-American.

We really need to get over this "pride" thing. We are completely ineffective in that country right now - our inability to finish the job is disappointing. I wish we could do better - but it doesn't appear possible... and we've done nothing but further foster the growth of Islamic fanatisicism in that country/region.

I'm typically a Republican, and a Bush voter. But it's time to admit this is long past out-of-hand.

We won the war, but changing their way of life and establishing a working democracy will take years. In the meantime, Uday Hussein isn't throwing people in his plastic shredding maching anymore and there's no more screams from the rape rooms. Afganistan is making a lot of progress and with Iran in the middle, there's less of a chance that those nut jobs will cut loose.

The media is so foul that they would prefer more US casualties and military failure with the belief that it would further their political party's agenda, and they are trying their best to fulfill their own warped destiny by influencing the American people and covering what they want to cover in a biased way. They are, in fact, giving encouragement to the enemy. Imagine how strong our efforts would be if we all worked together to rid the Earth of terrorism, and I do not mean supporting the UNs lame and currupt efforts.

I've said it before...... the Media is a double edged sword. It has the plus side of being a vehicle of information, the downside is that it's a vehicle of deception to further a political agenda.

If an average newspaper were for whatever reason limited to factual information only, this would be the result:

*Paper use in the United states would be cut by 1/3.
*Most Newspapers would cease to operate as profits would tumble.
*Unemployment would increase from jobs in the media being lost.
*Wars would end quicker as the opposing sides wouldn't be getting tips on the war status from CNN and Fox news.
*Political races would be more closely contested as millions in campaign contributions would have nowhere to be spent.

the list goes on and on.

Do you remember the backlash when I stated in the beginning of this war, the ideal battle plan would be to allow Iraq to fall into civil war? The political side would never own up to this type of tactic, but the theory is sound. Let them spend their time fighting each other instaed of giving them the time to carry out terror strikes on foreign soil. This is part of the idea of "taking the fight to them" instead of sitting back and letting them strike us here. There has never been a clear plan to accomplish a stabilized Iraq within 10 years. They simply cannot quit fighting against themselves long enough to think of the good of the country..... they all have personal, political and religious agenda. All Saddam did during his time of power was to squelch Civil War and organize his military to attack other nations. This whole political pie in the sky agenda of the US was a best case scenerio and IMHO, wasn't possible then and it's not possible now...... at least not in a country that people can't stop fighting among themselves all over an interpretation of religion.

Folks, this war is going exactly like I said it would. Mark my words, there are going to be some big suprises coming. This isn't going away any time soon. It will get really tense before it gets better.

My biggest fear is when the 2008 elections roll around, and a liberal anti-war Dem goes into office, they'll pull out all together. That would be the WRONG thing to do. However, I can already see it happening. Let's go with an example...

Let's say John Kerry runs again and is elected this time around. You and I both know he'll pull all military troops out of Iraq within a year, and give the surrounding nations (like Iran) whatever they want just as long as they don't bother us. It paints a very weak picture of us.

I, for one, still strongly believe there are/were WMD's in Iraq. Too much time passed when the U.N. was jerking around with inspections. Saddam had all the time in the world to hide those things.

The best we can hope for in Iraq is some semblence of order but peace will never exist over there. You cannot change the internal hatred that exists amongst the various factions over there. That will go on regardless of what happens. Let's face it, we made a big mistake going in there and a "democratic freedom loving people" will not be the result. Yes we took out Saddam and his henchman but we probably have created just as big a mess as existed under his regime.

The whole situation is a very difficult one and I for one feel our country has to make the best of it. We need to stay long enough to get things in reasonable shape. It may be an unpopular choice but it is the only one that makes any sense. So while I feel Bush made a huge blunder by deciding to go into Iraq, he deserves our support now to stay as long as necessary to get a reasonably functioning government in place.

Great post. Unfortunately, our media doesn't see it this way.

There are way too many problems at home namely social security (what ever happened to Bush's fixing that?), Outsourcing, Immigration, and the biggest one I think is education. I am an educator and it's really troubling to see other countries get much, much farther ahead than we are.

So if you have a hornet's nest in your yard, and they are starting to come near your kids, you're just going to tell your family to leave them alone and they'll leave you alone? You going to ignore the few first stings and tell your kids to stay inside from now on? Then when they get in your house and sting your baby all over, you going to just ignore that? You going to move to a new house? Or you going to go exterminate the hornets and take a few stings?

As far as education is concerned, teach them. If they aren't learning, it's YOUR fault - You are a teacher, are you not??? teachers in our state get good pay and FREE health care, and they do nothing but complain. They had enough money in Muskego H.S. to buy 3 big plasma TVs for the cafeteria, but thay can't manage to teach the kids the basic 3 Rs. Quit your ing about how bad the educational system is. Goofy school districts around here can't even define a budget, all they want is more money, they don't honestly care about the kids, they're just using them as a bargaining chip.
