Any audio guys?

A friend of mine gave me a pair of MTS 2008 speakers (I think thats the model #).

The closest thing I can find on them is the MTS 2510 (http://www.millenniumtheatersystems.com/products.htm), except I believe mine dont have the subwoofer.

These are brand new speakers out of the wrap and he wants $500 CAD for them.

Is this a good deal? Anyone know much about MTS or more paticular this speaker.

That might be a great deal. My girlfriends dad just bought a set of polk audio floor speakers that are identical to that speaker you said it was matched to. Whats unique about it is the woofer casing has the side exit which makes the low bass fill the room rather than direct it towards one area. He paid 1200 for his and those sell for just about a thousand. I listened to them Only! Without the rest of the speakers hooked up and it was extremely impressive! 500 bucks might be a pretty good deal for those kinds of speakers.

What kind of receiver do you plan on running them off of?

I have a digital Panasonic 5x100 watt reciever. I'm just going to use that for now, I believe these speakers have a built-in amp but I still havent had a good chance to look them over. I'll be checking when I get home.

As I said though, I'm pretty sure mine dont have the sub built in but the RMS/MAX power and ohms all seem to be the same. It looks to be the same size & setup as the one I mentioned above.

NO, bad deal, MTS speakers are crap. They are cheap and they are way over rated. They are just cheapo crap rip off speakers. Big fraud thing. Do a search on the net for em and fraud. You will see. The look nice but the actuall speakers are real chapo radio shack like speakers rated at 22 W each.
Stay away at all costs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
