Man, a good idea in theory, but how bad are the blindspots in the vehicle pictured? No back window at all and side windows that are a little bigger than a mail slot. The A pillars are also super wide. I guess this is just a design excersize though....
I suspect a production car would have to have a much more realistic greenhouse.
At least some people are trying.

The bottom picture makes it look as if it is a wind-up toy.
Maybe that accounts for its fuel economy.

The biggest problem is for something like that to be really safe, every vehicle would have to be a lightweight. Tub or no, I would hate to be in traffic and get hit. With that little amount of mass, you're going for a wild ride.
