  • 2 years ago today........

my son, Kenny, was killed. And I made a promise to make a post like this every year on this day: Wear your seatbelts, folks!!!!!!!!!

Had Kenny been wearing his that fateful night, he'd be here today......Thrown thru the windshield head first point blank into a huge tree........died instantly. His girlfriend in the passenger seat lived, but not because of a seat belt, she wasnt wearing hers, she ended up going under the dash. Has had the whole left side of her face rebuilt, including a new eye socket.......

He would have been 30 this comming August.

    Peace.

It's always sad when someone so young dies. I know how hard these anniversary dates can be. My thoughts are with you and your family.

You have my thoughts and prayers. It's become so automatic that I feel uncomfortable without my seatbelt.

Sorry about your son, I remember your post last year about this.. I can't remember if I responded to that one. It's always hard to find meaningfull words for something like this, I can't imagine loosing my father or anyone I love for that matter. My heart goes out to you, and a prayer as well.

I would just like to say, I never used to wear my seatbelt.. but joining the military ended up breaking me of the habit. You tell yourself you are a good driver and nothing will go wrong, but you can't controll everything. With the things I've done behind the wheel it's amazing I have not been in a bad wreck. I thank the lord, and with that thank you.. I try my hardest not to do anything stupid and buckle up.

                  Kevin, I like that one.

This is my favorite. I heard it for the first time at the funeral of a friend back in January and has really hit home with me... I think it has some meaning to everyone.

                  THE DASH

I read of a man who stood to speak at a funeral of a friend. He referred to the dates on his tombstone from the beginning...to the end. He noted that first came his date of birth and spoke the following date with tears, But he said what mattered most of all was the dash between those years. (1981-2006) For that dash represents all the time that he spent alive on earth... And now only those who loved him know what that little line is worth. For it matters not, how much we own The cars...the house...the cash, What matters most is how we live and love And how we spend our dash. So think about this long and hard... Are there things you'd like to change? For you never know how much time is left, that can still be rearranged. If we could just slow down enough to consider what's true and real, and always try to understand the way other people feel. And be less quick to anger, and show appreciation more and love the people in our lives like we've never loved before. If we treat each other with respect, and more often wear a smile... Remembering that this special dash, might only last a little while. So, when your eulogy's being read with your life's actions to rehash... Would you be proud of the things they say about how we spend our dash? By Linda Ellis

I remember you posting this last year, and you and your family are just as much in my thoughts and prayers as ever. It's a noble thing to see his untimely death as a way to teach others. It must be hard, but as I'm sure you already know, you always have a place to come talk about it with friends.
