I was saying if it isn't his fault why did he take the blame?
However, Katrina was not his fault. I only think he did that to show that he can own up to mistakes. There are hundreds of reasons for the failure there...but not one of them was Bush.

Because the captain of a ship is responsible for everyone under him and being a man of honor he views the presidency as the captain of the US ship and the governors are below him and the mayors are below that. I respect him for doing that. It takes a big man to take responsibility for something he did not do just because he is higher up the food chain from who did (or didn't in this case). And that really makes the people who point fingers at Bush for the problems of Katrina look like real idiots.

Far from the truth. I deal with the NCLB every day when I write a lesson plan. No one else here is a teacher who can relate to working with this act. What do you know about "managing a student's academic progression?" A standardized test should not be the way to manage progress. The best way to measure learning is through process-oriented goals, product-oriented results leave more room for measurable error.
You are correct I am not a teacher. However there are three teachers in my close family. My stepmother, and 2 aunts. Stepmother is in Texas, and both aunts are in San Antonio. They and the majority of the teachers they associate with cannot say enough good things about the NCLB program. Standardized tests are a great way to implement a control when measuring a students achievement and aptitude. You need the control as part of the testing...it is paramount and it is about time.
You don't measure a student's academic progression and aptitude by means of "measurable error", you measure their academic progression and aptitiude by means of the student's testing successes.
Standardzied testing is becoming the norm and is critical to every child's education.

Therefore you lack first hand knowledge of how much time testing takes from learning. The NCLB only measures math and reading. Not science, health & physical education, social studies, or the arts. Since such time is spent preparing for standardized testing, other subjects are pushed aside.
It was Aristotle that promoted physical well being and the arts.

Math and Reading were proving to be a steadily declining weakness in America as compared to the other industrialized nation's education systems. It is important to focus on Math and Reading.
Standardized testing is likely here to stay, has already PROVEN to show an across the board academic improvement, and you should learn to adapt to it in order to make the most out of a great program. Either that or you could just continue to complain about it......
