  • Need advice on a new car decision.

I am in the market to buy a new vehicle in the next 3-5 months. Right now I am stuck between a 2006 Silverado Z71 fully loaded or a 2006 4runner v6 4wd with the x-sp package (20in wheels, different leather seats, and other aesthetic changes). I priced them both out and they come up to around $35,000-$37,000 dollars msrp. I actually test drove the Silverado and was very impressed and really fell in love with it. But I know that the resale value on the 4runner is amazing as well as the longevity. Anyone here that has maybe had either one that can tell me any gripes about them?

Oh btw I might be pulling a 20ft boat in the near future.

My mom just bought a decked out Silverado Z71 extend cab. Her old truck was a silverado 5.3 L. She got 289,000 out of it and it could still pull her boat. Only problem she had was the speedo stop working at 200,000.

The Silverado will be a much better tow vehicle.

BTW I know where a mid 80's 25' boat with twin Mercruiser 165hp (Chevy 250 inline 6 cylinder) for around $6000. The guy is buying another boat in the next week or two and wants it gone. You are not that far from Atlanta. If I had the money and a way to tow it I would jump on it.

I would take them up on that offer but I will be strapped after buying my new truck. I "might" be getting a boat because my parents have a 94 Statos bass boat and since my dad never uses it anymore they're gonna give it to me once I get something to pull it with..

Well the Silverado will do a good job with that.

Oh I also forgot... I priced my silverado with the "Max" package which gives you the 6.0 instead of the 5.3.

The Silverado would be a more versatile vehicle as far as towing capacity goes, and general hauling of anything. As soon as my daily driver Bravada dies, I'm going to buy another pick-up. I'm sorry I didn't to begin with. I miss my old one...

I've been looking for a new truck for work, if I will make out from it and not use my bosses, which a "truck payment" is included in my salary, since I use his. But, it will be a silverado. Just not sure on new/used. Much deciding to do. They are great for so many reasons. My vote goes with the silverado.
