  • Need opinion on wheels

I have been back and forth and back and forth on my wheels. I think I have decided on some ZR1s - 17x9.5 in the front and 17x11 in the back. I was pretty set on a set of gun metal ZR1s like these:

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/17-11...QQcmdZViewItem

However - my wife says that I am stupid to consider a "painted wheel". She says the only option for my silver car is chrome ones! I like the chrome too but I am torn? Need some opinions.

And for those who have contacted me on my current wheels I still have not decided what to do with them. They will most likely be sold - with the like new GS D3s on them.

Send me a good side shot of your car and few of your wheel choices and I'll Photoshop you a couple of pics.

IMO, the gunmetal ZR1's look great on a silver car. The C5 Y2K chromies look great as well though. Tough choice.

How much do you have to spend?

I didn't notice any info on the offset/backspace of those wheels.... maybe I missed it, but I couldn't find it. You need to make sure the wheels are:

      17x9.5" 56mm offset
      17x11" 50mm offset

or they will stick out from under the fenders. "Real" ZR1 wheels are the wrong offset for 4th Gen F-Bodys. You want them with the "Grand Sport" offsets.

Here are a couple of quickies. I couldn't find very many good shots of the gunmetal ZR-1's:

These are the Sportmax 962's in gummetal. I like them:

Dangit Kevin - just throw in another wheel to choose from! I really like the looks of the Sport Maxx wheels but I really would like to run 11s out back.....decisions decisions.

I hear ya. You are making enough power now to have a genuine need for 11's out back. Plus they look kick ass also!

Those Sport Maxx wheels are sweet. I've always liked the ZR-1's, but I prefer them in chrome myself. Either way, the car will be sharp.

If Casey wants a 11" wheel and decides on the ZR-1, I would have a hard time choosing between polished and gunmetal......they both would look good on a silver car.

Agreed. I've always been a huge fan of a polished wheel on a silver car. On any color car really. I've always liked Casey's car. You just don't see a ton of WS6's around in silver. Strange because it looks so good.
