  • Dashboard cleaner/protector...

I'm looking for a cleaner/protector that dries without looking "wet". I hate the look of armoral or the other dash cleaners/protector that "dries" and still looks wet. Any ideas?

Did a quick search... if you know of a thread point me to it!

2005 GTO, Quicksilver, 6-Speed, DynaTech LT's and thats it. 366.6 hp/366.7 tq last time I checked.
    Sold-1995 Dark GreenTrans Am, Auto 63K. BBK Headers/off-road y-pipe/Hooker Exhaust/LPI CAI/Hypertech...need some money!!!

I am with you on the "wet look" that most protectants give. I never liked that look. It makes the interior look cheap. I've been using Armor-All Low Gloss Finish. However, even that can give off a sheen if you do it the way they tell you on the bottle. I have my own way.

Spray the Armor-All Low Gloss onto a clean, lint-free rag. Apply normally. Give it about 5 minutes to soak into the dash (By the way - I should mention, do this in the shade if at all possible). After the Armor-All has set a bit, take another clean, lint-free rag, and lightly go over the entire dashboard again, constantly flipping the rag to a dry side. This takes off most of the excess left to sit on top. I've been doing this for a few years and have yet to have a shiny finish on the dash.

    Good luck.

      ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, armor-all is the devil!!!
I'm not sure about the low sheen stuff, but the shiny stuff pulls the oils and silicates out of the dash to give it the shine, after a few years it starts to dry out and crack the dash, or make it become brittle and look like it has dried plastic on top of it(looks like you can rub it off). The formulation may have gotten better over the years but I wouldn't put it on my dash.

fools......how long have yall been on this forum? sheez.

zaino z-10...leather and vynal protectant. uv rating of 40. lets the leather and vynal breathe....does not need buffing off.... its not snotty or shiny..... it has leather extract in it so your car smells like leather inside.

if you dont want the leather smell then his z-16 will do it also... i prefer the z-10....to me its richer.

One thing you have to understand is, I never have my car in the direct sun for any period of time. Pretty much any "protectant" will probably be the same for my situation. A daily driver, however, is a different story.

Sad thing is, Ken. I know better. I guess I'm justifying my ways. Z10 is definitely the way to go. I have a bottle, but I haven't run out of Armor-All yet.

Still, I stand firm on my method of application for the protectant. I've had good luck that way.... So I was half right.
