  • Foiled Burglar Sues For Emotional Distress

I'd like to have a word or three with the lawyer that took this case!

    POSTED: 12:01 pm EDT June 10, 2006

ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- A man who was beaten by employees of a store he was trying to rob is now suing.

Police said Dana Buckman entered the AutoZone in Rochester, N.Y., last July, brandished a semi-automatic pistol and demanded cash.

That's when employees Eli Crespo and Jerry Vega beat him with a pipe and held Buckman at bay with his own gun.

Buckman escaped when they retreated into the store to call 911, but he was arrested a week later. He pleaded guilty to first-degree robbery and was sentenced to 18 years in prison as a repeat violent felon.

Now, Buckman is suing the auto parts store and the two employees who beat him, claiming they committed assault and battery and intentionally inflicted emotional distress.

We need a looser pays system. If you bring a law suit and loose you pay for both sides. That would stop a lot of frivolous law suits.

Too bad they didn't kill him with his own gun in the struggle

It would have saved a lot of money instead of housing this idiot in prison for the next 18 years. Tax payer money at work, now they have to put up with the scumbag lawyer as well

Our legal system has become the legal lottery.

I think Congress has to step in and be more proactive at stopping these frivolous lawsuits before they are even filed or at least denying the lawsuit.

Hopefully, this won't make it past the first trial. Fortunately, there are still SOME decent judges around, and once in a while, a good jury.

Do you think our tax dollars are also paying for the lawyer? or is that only for criminal cases not civil?

edit: incase its a court appointed lawyer. just to clarify

                Legal system

The legal system is designed by lawyers for lawyers to make as much money as possible for them. Justice is secondary. It is a cash cow for the system. How many lawyers do you think there would be if they made $10 and hour. None.

My plan for anybody breaking into my place is to shoot them dead. No wounding. Best to do it in one shot, but make sure it gets done.
