  • Getting oil off the street

I think I have the infamous LT1 intake manifold leak. The street in front of my house looks like crap. There are oil stains everywhere. Between my car's oil leak and the oil that my Monte Carlo used to leak, it's a real mess out there. Is there anything I can use or anything I can do to get that stuff out? I went to the mechanic today and he estimated it at $430 for parts and labor. I think that's a bit extreme, but I don't really have a choice. I can't really do it myself. It's either I dish out the cash or the oil keeps on dripping. It's gotten a lot worse too.

You can use detergent and water and maybe some bleach and a broom and a few applications will greatly diminish the oil on the street. As for your sled, it's not a hard job, just have to clean everything real good & dry, use acetone for a final cleaning, new intake gaskets coated with Coppercoat, Right Stuff for the front & back, coat the intake bolts with teflon based thread sealer, and make sure the convoluted EGR pipe is bent away from the back of the intake manifold as far as possible.
