  • New excuse for road rage

I was talking to my girlfriend about this a little while ago and was wondering if anyone else had heard of this. She works in a medical school and so there are always lots of doctors around, so apparently she was talking to someone who said they now labeled sudden outburst of things like road rage, Intermittent Explosive Disorder......

I think it's dumb becuase it's just one more way for people to not be held accountable for their actions because now getting angry while driving is a condition! lol anyone else ever heard of this?

I saw something on TV about that too. They have a checklist to follow to decided if you have this "disorder" or not. You hit the nail on the head when you say it's a way to get out of your personal accountability. What a joke.

I don't mean to offend anyone by this, but when I was in elementary school, I don't remember the term A.D.D ever being used. They just sent the kids that weren't paying attention or being bad to the office for a "swat" and they came back ready to learn. It seems to me they're making up all kinds of excuses, then making a pill to cure it. Next thing you know there will be advertisements for pills to cure road rage. I can see it now ....... may cause drowseyness, constipation, frequent urination. all the things you want to have while driving.

Absolutely correct. It is crap. It is largely a symptom of being a spoiled brat whose parents don't believe in 'beating' the kid. Instead of a tune-up spanking twice a year, they yell at them non stop, and the kid tunes it out and ignores it. Then he does it in school and they say he has ADD. There was a TV show recently that explored that and the child's need for discipline. They said that in the early development years 18 months - 2 1/2 years, the child is testing his limits and that they want and need parental direction & discipline. Without that crucial guidance at the right time in the kids life, the kid self destructs from not having any defined boundaries. And, if the parents miss the window of opportinity, it is a lot harder to turn things around later. It's NOT from chemicals in the lettuce...

Don't forget "death". I saw a drug commercial that said that and I asked my wife what she thought about a drug that advertised may cause death. Yea I want to take that one.

ADD is a bunch of crap.

ROFL! Thats awsome like some cool bumper sticker I think of myself as a equilizer sometimes, when someone off of a green, in both directions, guns it to make an illegal left and dosn't wait untill trafic clears, I also gun it (going from the oposite direction) but not enough to cause an accident but just enough to scare the heck out of him!

Road rage isn't a condition its an inablility to deal with a given situation properly.

ADD can be a real condition but doctors can also miss-diagnose problems. On the lighter side, ADD can be a good thing in this world aka multi-tasking!
